The Mystery Of My Mind-Subtitle:The Things I've Tried
David Daniels

I tried to follow
But you knocked me down
I tried to swim to shore
But you let me drown

I tried to explain
But you would not hear
I tried to cry
But was unable to shed a tear

I tried to pray
But I could not believe
I tried to mourn
But was unable to grieve

I wanted to walk along the right path
But you would not lead
I tried to share
But I couldn't because of my greed

I tried to give answers
To the questions you asked
I tried to succeed
But failed at the task

I tried to fly
But my wings were broken
I tried to say the right words
But they were never spoken

I tried to give love
But all I got in return was hate
I tried to be there for you
But I was way to late

I tried to sing
But my throat was sore
I tried to give you everything
But still you wanted more

I tried to relax
Under the shade of the tree
I tried to find myself
But I don't know who I'm supposed to be

I tried to find salvation
In a world that has none
I tried to find a conclusion
But realized I've just begun

I tried to run away
From the things that make me sad
When I tried to make you happy
All I did was make you mad

I realize that you're a sinner
So I tried to forgive you
But if you remain unforgiven
Tell me, what will you do?

I once was a liar
But now,the truth is what I try to speak
I tried to remain strong
But as time marches on I grow weak

I tried to escape
But I couldn't break out of jail
I tried to regain my freedom
But all I did was fail

I tried to touch the sky
But I couldn't reach it
I tried to learn a lesson
But no one would teach it

I tried to invest
But I went broke
When I tried to take a bite out of life
All I did was choke

I tried to convince myself
That I was a good man
When I tried to convince others
No one would understand

I tried to win
But all I did was lose
I tried to give
But everyone refused

I tried to quench my thirst
But the water wasn't fit to drink
I tried to concentrate
But I was unable to think

My mouth was dry
But there was no water in the well
I tried to find Heaven
But only found Hell

I was hungry
And I tried to feed
My heart was wounded
But it was unable to bleed

I tried to find a cure
To relieve my pain
I tried to find sunshine
But got caught in the rain

I tried to keep your secret
But somehow it was told
I tried to remain young
But I got old

I tried to sleep
Because I grow weak and I tire
I tried to keep warm
But I was unable to light a fire

I was lonely
I desperately needed a friend
I searched for the beginning
But only found the end

I tried to seek an answer
It's something I hope to find
I need to try and find the key
That will unlock the mystery of my mind
