High upon a hill
Away from all the world I stand
With my head tilted to the sky
Watching the angry clouds as they roll by
And I contemplate all that is
To be found within my life.
Slowly, at first,
The clouds dispense their holdings
Into a delicate, quiet rain
That falls softly upon me
And my hill.
As I close my eyes,
I can feel your caresses
That runs down my arms
And the sweet embrace
That you envelop me in.
For an instant,
All of my questions
Have a perfect answer.
For a second,
All of my prayers
Are answered.
In that instant,
In that quiet time,
The shared embrace,
I have found the secret place
Trespassed by no one
Save for you and I.
Some time has passed before
I come to realize that you no longer
Linger by my side
As I wish to linger
In your embrace.
You have gone,
Just like the rain,
Just like the angry, angry clouds
That have been swallowed by the sun.
And yet, a new rain falls
Under a brilliant, cloudless sky
Quietly,
From my eyes.
