The Sound Of A Tear
M Q Walters

What is the sound a tear makes as it falls,
As a dove for its lost mate calls?

Or like the sound of summer rain,
Or wind whispering through the cane?

The bow upon violin strings,
Or the flutter of butterfly wings?

Like the hum of a mothers lullaby,
Or her sleeping babes soft sigh?

The ocean crashing upon the shore,
Perhaps like the slamming of a door?

The sound of a teardrop on its fall,
I think makes no sound at all.
