Synopsis Of Goblin Market

The author's creativity was brought to life when she used many adjectives and verbs to describe objects and feelings in her poem. The poem's theme is that people should trust their families and their true friends more than strangers who can be threatening to them. A family supports each other when they are down by cheering up, strengthening, or helping each other to not go astray.
In the beginning of the story a girl named Laura and her sister Lizzi came across goblins who were trying to sell them fruit. Lizzi warned Laura to stay away from goblins because they can be harmful and many people have died when they encountered the goblins. Laura accidently hears the goblins persuading people to buy their fruit. She did not have any money but she really wanted the fruit. Goblins told her to cut her locks and in return they gave her fruit which was so sweet and tasty that no man ever sold that type of tasty fruit (which was poisonous). Laura then goes home with full stomach thinking about the food.
Laura�s sister tried to warn her about goblins by reminding her about Jeannie, a family member who had become weak and developed grey hair because she ate food from the goblins. However, Laura did not heed her advice since the food was good. After a few days she became very sick and could not eat even a single bite of food. Lizzie was conscious that the fruit was having the same effect on Laura that it had on Jeannie. Lizzie took a silver coin and went to goblins to get food for Laura. The goblins tried to forcefully give her food. The writer used many adjectives like coaxed, bullied, and besought to show the violent actions of goblins. The goblins were frustrated that she did not even open her mouth to eat the food that was splattered all over her face. Laura sucked all juices that were on her sister�s face so she could get better. Next day, Laura was feeling better and happy and now she trusted her family more than anyone else. Laura then teaches her kids about what she had to go through and how a family supports us when we are down and something goes wrong.
