Misery's Finest Hour
James R. Williams
Silently falling to Earth,
into the sea for a midnight swim.
Crawling on the sand,
no lights, everything dim.
A little bit further,
a little bit deeper;
soon no more laughter,
here comes the Reaper.
blood and smoke;
Ghosts, no one can see,
soldiers fire, but do not hit;
laughter turns to screams,
a tower, climb and sit.
Explosions firework the sky,
panic everywhere for those who blind.
No where to hide!
Searching for a mark:
a soldier sprinting through dark.
Aimming from perched tower,
this is misery's finest hour.
