Where I Am Today
Susan T Fisher

I often think back and ponder,
How I got from there to yonder.
Going through the many years,
Of all the happiness and some tears,
To where I am today.

Having lots of laughter and happy tears,
Endured hardships and some fears.
Struggles and challenges where of many,
But good times were always a plenty!
To get to where I am today.

Arguments that seem so small,
Heartbreak that was much too tall.
The elation of a new babys birth,
To helping me see my real worth.
The journey to where I am today.

Compassion for those with needs,
Those unnoticed, yet vital good deeds.
Lessons learned, some the hard way,
Teaching, speaking whats right to say.
Helped me get to here where I am today.

Never regretting one single day,
I made my life and lived it my way!
I lived and loved and lost and found,
It has been a wonderful life all around.
With Gods help, Im where I am today!

"I'm afraid that the rhyming in this case seems a little too forced" -- Ka_sey.
"Poetry does not have to rhyme but it must have rhythm. You have focused too much on trying to the poem rhyme and in doing so you have lost the rhythm. The words should be roll of the tongue. Your poem would be a lot better if you could just solve this problem. Other than the above, I quite enjoy the way you think!" -- L.A. Israel.
"Please note that the word make is missing after the fourth word in the second line of the above review. My humble apologies! " -- L.A. Israel.
"I enjoyed your poem. I got the point. It says that you can look back and rejoice in where you are today, but it didn't come easy. Keep up the good work!!" -- robin, belleville, usa, illinois.
