In the year 3002, The Sun that earth orbited was going to have a super nova. I was only two years old when it happened. They tried to collect as much as possible. Then we all boarded a ship and sailed away. No one was ever sure if it blew up or not. But nobody wanted to go back and see, on the chance that it exploded when they were there. We found a new system of planets that revolved around a star called Kepalli. The planet we chose to live on was named Tiptoz. It has oxygen, warmth, but no fertile soil. It was impossible to grow food. We are barely surviving on the food we brought from home. Or what used to be our home. The scientists are trying to create a way to grow food, but so far they’re batting zero. This is how it began.
“Bob-o!” Called Kindai Tarnz. “Yes, mother?” Bob-o replied back sweetly. “Did you feed that moaset?” “You mean Gatoply? Of course! But we’re running a little slim on materials.” She told her mother. “Those supplies have to last the rest of the month so don’t be wasteful!” Her mother warned. “Okay, well I’m off to do homework.”
Bob-o walked to her cube. Bob-o laid on her pallet with her genetically enhanced cat. All of the animals had to be changed to adapt to eating less food and to their new habitat. Suddenly her communication screen turned on. It was Tiptoz’s leader Geogr Kwaz; His message was for every one.
“Your attention please, fellow Tiptozians,” he grunted “I am going in search for a new planet that has resources on it. I will need on man from every living unit to embark on this journey with me.” Geogr continued “we will leave in two days and will return at the end of the month. That is all.” And with that the screen turned off. Our leader will be leaving? This is horrible! How will we live? Bob-o thought to herself. Bob-o and her family were in living unit four. Men who wanted to go on the journey stepped forward and then the rest of the unit would vote on the best candidate. The men who stepped up were Bob-o’s father Bob, and two other men she’s never met. And by the look of the voting, no on else had either. Bob Tarnz was elected to travel with Geogr Kwaz. Shortly after the searchers left, things started getting crazy. The waste container started spilling into the fresh water pool; and most of the men who left were animal trainers, and without them around the animals wouldn’t obey. but the worst thing was that they has almost ran out of food. But all of Bob-o’s worrying stopped when her communication screen turned on and it was her father. She told him about how food supplies were getting low and to her relief he had good news. The crew had met aliens on their search, and they had shown them a way to grow crops rapidly . He gave her step bye step instructions. 1. Clear small area. 2. Mash animal pellets into ground, 3. Make a wall of scrap metal pieces. 4. Add water. The metal in the ground caused a chemical reaction that made the ground suitable for plants. Bob-o took action and told the others about it. Boy, would her father be proud!
It was truly beautiful! Everyone followed the directions and planted the pellets and the metal. And all kinds of plants shot up. No one could wait until the journeyers return.
When the searchers arrived they were wide-eyed at the sigh t of the plant growth. Before this place was like a desert. It was like they were home again!

"Interesting concept. Lacking in details, though. Too fast-paced. Perhaps some more material on the emotional sid eof her father's departure. Or description of the aliens, i.e. how they met them, etc. Good start." -- W. N. Dayley, Winchester, VA, USA.
