Story Of Success
Heather Springer

I was once asked what one of the hardest decisions I have ever needed to make, at the time I didn't have an answer. Things in my life were going at a fast pace and I knew that is how I enjoyed myself. Well, in the past few days I have found an answer to that pending question.
Just recently, I made a decision to step down from my position as a department supervisor, I had thought it over and realized that with school and work it was just too much activity in my life. I sat down with my General Manager and Assistant Manager on my birthday to discuss this decision, all of a sudden I started having doubts about my decision. I felt like I was a failure letting everyone down, what is everyone going to think of me now. They reassured me that I would still have plenty of opportunities for advancement in the company, that my decision will be an advantage in my life. I still felt uneasy, knowing that on Monday morning my choice would become public to the entire club. What is everyone going to think of me, they would all be talking about me, I didn't want to be the center of everyone's conversation. I just knew they were going to think that I had failed at my job and had to try something new.
I was too concerned with how others felt about me that I needed to realize that I must make myself happy first, then worry about everyone else. I had to come to grips with reality that I didn't let anyone down, and that my coworkers would support my decision, to try something new. The main moral of the story is not to worry about what others think, but to worry about how you think about yourself. It takes a good person to do what makes them happy.
