1) LONELINESS IS A SCARY THOUGHT

The wine glasses are shattered
Another fight in a row
Why it mattered
We'll probably never know

I know it was a small thing
But it hurt me like a sting
Darling, is our love ending?
Is hate winning?

Loneliness is a scary thought
I wish we’d never fought
Now it seems that all is over
Feels like the worst hangover

I’ve fought for you, I’ve tried
You’ve given me no chance
The love has died
The love has cried

I never thought our love would end
But now I cannot pretend
Two souls on different journeys
We are miles apart

Too bad and so, so sad
Because in the beginning
Our love was pure art

„Strangelove“ is on the radio
And it hurts like Hell
Thinking about our past
Will it be back, I can't tell

I’ve fought for you, I’ve tried
You’ve given me no chance
The love has died
The love has cried

(speaking)

Darling, I’ve always loved you
And always will
Now I have to accept the fact
That you have changed
It is with pain in my heart
That I have to watch us part

2) I WAS 20

I was 20
Everything seemed to be
All right with the world
Lots of parties, many friends
Being happy
We took it for granted

Next day I woke up
On the radio they told us we had to fight
Suddenly, nothing in the world seemed right

People were protesting
The first bullets flew over their heads
But these warning shots
Soon became mortal blows

Why has this happened?
Can anyone tell me?
Yesterday we only wanted to be happy
Today the only thought is to survive

I realised that everything had changed
Happiness from the day before
Seemed so distant to me

But I never gave up
They tried everything to drag me down
I always thought of them with a frown

Now the fighting is over
They say nobody has won
The peace accord is in place
And people are clapping their hands

Is it worth clapping?
Why don't we tell ourselves
That there is nothing to celebrate?
Even though people
Are not dying any more
Scars will be in our souls
Forever and more

Why has this happened?
Can anyone tell me?
Yesterday we only wanted to be happy
Today the only thought is to survive

3) IMPOSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE

She was so beautiful
A work of God's art, I might add
So many sleepless nights
Her silhouette in my third eye

Was it the right time to make a move?
My friend told me that
She was out of my league
I thought about giving up
But she would come in my dreams

She'd say that I was the one for her
Those words were a symphony to me
So next day I told myself
What have I got to lose?

Was it my exaggeration?
Or possible liberation?

Losing seemed horrible
Winning seemed unbelievable
But for once in my life
I found enough courage
I hoped it wouldn't hurt like a knife

There she was
Like the most beautiful gazelle
Even the courageous Dante
Would say: Ti aspetta l'inferno
(Hell is waiting for you)

Was it my exaggeration?
Or possible liberation?

My determination was hesitant
But my heart could not wait
To be or not to be
It seemed so important to me

And then a thunderbolt struck me
Straight into my anxious heart
I saw her kissing
Another girl in the park

Was it my exaggeration?
Or possible liberation?

It seemed impossible
It was incredible
For me it was indescribable
Disappointing, unbearable

And Dante was right
L'inferno mi ha aspettato (Hell waited for me)

4) WE MET ONLINE

We met online
I know, it sounds unnatural
But life is unpredictable
And it seemed so believable

Who would have ever thought
It would happen to me?

Not knowing her face was
The mystery I always longed for
She was so bright and eloquent
I was just happy and wanted more

More of those beautiful moments
Without everyday torments
It was my personal renaissance
For my heart a beautiful dance

We met online
I know it sounds unnatural
But life is unpredictable
And it seemed so believable

One day she said
She’d be online no more
That the whole thing
Became to her a bore

What was I to do?
Everything crumbled down
Scorn was not natural to me
I said to myself
That was how it had to be

We met online
I know it sound unnatural
But life is unpredictable
And it seemed so believable

I was hoping she’d come back
That I’d see her avatar in green
It never happened

I dreamt how it could have been
But she never came back
Never again...

We met online
I know it sounds unnatural
But life is unpredictable
And it seemed so believable

5) NEVER AGAIN SHE DARED

Action, the director said
The actress felt so bad
It was not what she hoped for
Out of her career she wanted more

She was everybody's object of desire
Art, perfection, where were they?
Was she just another product
Even for the director, hey?

She said
All I’ve ever wanted to be
Is an actress in love with art
Lights, object, envy
That is not my part.

Little did she know
That art had fallen so low
It was all about money, fame
Parties, red carpets, name

She felt disgusted
These people were
Not to be trusted
The circus was in town
On her face a frown

She said
All I’ve ever wanted to be
Is an actress in love with art
Lights, object, envy
That is not my part.

Her disappointment
was enormous
There was nothing
remotely humorous
She had nothing to give
Felt it was time to leave

Twenty years later
She was happily married
Acting career buried
Two children, husband cared
Acting? Movies?
Never again she dared.

Never again she dared...

6) REVENGE

In this hotel room
In this foreign place
What am I doing here?
Where is my grace?

She left me
It was too late
Why did I hope that
The break-up wasn’t fate?

I loved her so much
And I felt so hurt
My anger was destroying me
It seemed like it wasn't me

And I wanted revenge
Blood was rushing through my veins
Was it strange? Revenge?
The thoughts were scary, terrible pains
And I wanted revenge
Was it so strange?

She never looked back
No mercy, no explanation
In my heart there was a crack
And a terrible temptation

Was I capable of such a terrible deed?
A terrible deed, revenge indeed
Many people told me to let it go
They said, revenge, no, no.

And I wanted revenge
Blood was rushing through my veins
Was it strange? Revenge?
The thoughts were scary, terrible pains
And I wanted revenge
Was it so strange?

7) TO BE A POP STAR

To be a pop star
Is it such a big deal?
Their lives seem so unreal
Is that how I want to feel?

We see the stars in the sky
We see the stars on TV
Is that the reason why
I want it to be me

Change of style
Change of place
No phone number to dial
No private space

To be a pop star
Is it such a big deal?
Their lives seem so unreal
Is that how I want to feel?

I’ve been told it’s not for me
Who are they
To make such a bold claim
Or am I to blame?

Is it my vanity,
my potential fame
My insanity,
Not wanting to be the same?

I'm still young
Don't know if I'll be the same
Hidden in my heart a desire
To see people scream my name

To be a pop star
Is it such a big deal?
Their lives seem so unreal
Is that how I want to feel?

Is it?
Please, someone tell me

Is it?

8) WAS IT MEANT TO BE?

The beach was empty
Late at night
We kissed and looked
At the moon so bright

She looked me in the eyes
Every time it was a surprise
For her stare
Was unique, was rare

And I ask myself
Was it meant to be?
Was I to blame?
Was she?

The honeymoon was perfection
I never thought of defection
Her love was so immense
And it made all the sense

I played the piano, she sang
We didn't care if anybody rang
Breakfast in bed
No traces of being sad
The best time we'd ever had

And I ask myself
Was it meant to be?
Was I to blame?
Was she?

Then something changed
She started drinking
I was afraid
And work was my refuge
The gap between us
Never so huge

I thought things would change
It would be again perfection
But she said things in rage
And I didn't have any reaction

And I ask myself
Was it meant to be?
Was I to blame?
Was she?

9) IN MY ANGER…

In my anger I was foolish
I didn't appreciate what I had
But after the mistake I wasn't sad
At myself I was mad

I cheated, not proud of that
How could anyone be?
But there must've been a reason
Why I committed this treason

Why did I do it?
I never knew
But she kept telling me
Yes, it was you

The snow was falling
Everything was so bright
And I was hoping
That I was right

But how could I've been so cruel
Be such a fool
I hurt the woman of my dreams
Now so stupid it all seems

Why did I do it?
I never knew
But she kept telling me
Yes, it was you

It was too late to cry
She left, never said goodbye
I kept asking myself why
I thought I was going to die

Speaking:

I didn't appreciate what I had
And the mistakes had to be paid
I asked for forgiveness
In the moment of my sadness
She wanted to hit me with her hand
And now I understand

10) I THANKED THE RAIN

Is coincidence really
What they say it is?
Or is everything part of
The majestic cosmic plan?

I believe it's the latter
For I'm going to tell you
An unusual story, so true

I was walking in the rain
And a woman bumped into me
There was nowhere to hide
So she had a coat over her head

I thanked the rain
And looked into the sky
Coincidence or cosmic plan
That she didn't pass me by?

She apologised and said
That the weather was awful
And I said to see her again
I was hopeful

Taken by surprise
After my words with no disguise
She said that her car was near
If I could wait here

I thanked the rain
And looked into the sky
Coincidence or cosmic plan
That she didn't pass me by?

She offered me a ride
My happiness I couldn't hide
I hoped I’d get to know her better
Grateful that I wouldn’t be wetter

We drove off
Had a lot of fun
Next day, together
We stared at the Sun

It turned out to be
The best day of my life
Happy, delirious, joyful
Feeling like a true man
I love you, cosmic plan

I thanked the rain
And looked into the sky
Coincidence or cosmic plan
That she didn't pass me by?

11) TENANT AND LOW

What a strange story
Not really basked in glory
It takes place in my building
Hope you'll understand the meaning

The owner is eager to rent
One empty apartment
The bank is closing in on him
Paying bills? Chances slim

Frustrated and nervous
He’s feeling so bad
Trying not to be sad

I need a tenant
The rent is low
I hope someone will call
I'll wait in the hall

Anxious, waiting,
Anticipating,
Unemployment is hard
No chances for this poetry bard

Where is art?
The world is upside down
It's all about money
The thought makes him frown

I need a tenant
The rent is low
I hope someone will call
I'll wait in the hall

He used to be much in demand
Society's favourite bard
And then recession
Made no concession

People don't listen
They don't care
Poetry is almost gone
Turmoil, everyone is a pawn

I need a tenant
The rent is low
I hope someone will call
I'll wait in the hall

12) DON'T JUDGE ME

Something went wrong
Now we know that
You didn't solve the problem
And I created mayhem

You cheated
You didn't care
I found you with him
In bed, bare

Angry as I was
I wanted to retaliate
And by doing so
I opened the sin gate

Don't judge me
I'm not the only one to blame
We should both admit shame
Don't judge me
You had an affair
Later I didn't care

Empty streets,
Lonely girls in the bars
It wasn't difficult
We had sex in the cars

To my surprise
The anger was gone
I didn't think of you
Strange, but true

Don't judge me
I'm not the only one to blame
We should both admit shame
Don't judge me
You had an affair
Later I didn't care

We were sitting in the room
Looking away from each other
You said it was doom
I disagreed, felt relieved

It was time to say goodbye
I didn't need you any more
You begged, really did try
Too late, darling
A new life is calling

13) DISTORTED WORLD

Facebook, twitter
The whole world is connected
I disagree
I think it's distorted

I want a partner
A friend in flesh
Talking to a screen
What do they mean?

Vocabularies are thin
To all languages
Computers are a sin

People in offices killing time
Chatting with strangers
Then charging overtime

We live in a distorted world
And we don't even notice
This is wrong human kind
What's happened to your mind?

Human contact, human smile?
We don't even dial
I'm appalled, they never called
Come online
No, I'd rather dine

Paid experts call it progress
Maybe for mom's small princess
For an old-fashioned guy like me
Human touch
That's where I want to be

We live in a distorted world
And we don't even notice
This is wrong human kind
What's happened to your mind?

No screen, no nickname
Yet I don't want anyone to blame
Face to face contact, please for me
The others? Let them be

We live in a distorted world
And we don't even notice
This wrong human kind
What's happened to your mind?

14) APATHY WILL NOT PREVAIL

Working from nine to five
How am I supposed to feel alive?

The hours are long,
Too many taxes to pay
Why am I here?
It's not a robot day
The only reason
I am here every day
Is so many
Utility bills to pay

In my apartment
Paintings on the wall
Speak volumes to me
After another day of not being me
But apathy will not prevail
I have never been for sale

Where is love?
Where is creativity?
We need a new scene of nativity
Jesus breaking tables
Setting people free
Shackles would be fables
Spirit would prevail in you and me

In my apartment
Paintings on the wall
Speak volumes to me
After another day of not being me
But apathy will not prevail
I have never been for sale

Robotic materialism
Highest expression of misery
Billions want money
But why? It's not even funny

Sad is the state
Of man's affairs
But this life is not mine
It's theirs

In my apartment
Paintings on the wall
Speak volumes to me
After another day of not being me
But apathy will not prevail
I have never been for sale

Fake Picasso on the wall
Fake Da Vinci in the hall
But I do not care
Better a fake painting
Than a fake being

As soon as I have a chance
I'll be doing my dance
Others will find me strange
Because they don't want to change

15) BLACK SWAN

Tchaikovsky and his Swan Lake
The most beautiful artistic
Expression one can make

Black or white
Over that they still fight
But your gracefulness
Is contrast to their emptiness

Not being one of the crowd
What a great reason to be proud

Black swan
They say you don't belong
Tell them that
They are not strong
Not strong enough
And even less tough

So many bumps
So much hate
The lake is crying
Its black son is dying

But no, it's just an evil rumour
They lied to the lake
Black swan, your utter beauty
Something they cannot take

Black swan
They say you don't belong
Tell them that
They are not strong
Not strong enough
And even less tough

Going with the flow
No, it's not what you know
Far more distinguished you are
With your stunning feather repertoire

The visitors admire
your breathtaking grace
And can't even see your face
Black swan, just go on
Pay no attention to
Their lack of bon ton

16) COLD RUSSIAN WINTER

Why this obsession with Russia?
Why was I there?
The Russian winter was so cold
But I was not there to scold

Vast spaces, so much beauty
But I didn’t envy the guards on duty
I kept coming back here
I knew, to be near

Near her, beautiful Natasha
And Pоссия майка наша (our mother Russia)
(English spelling should be Rossiya Mayka Nasha - more or less)

It was freezing, I didn’t mind
Because people were so kind
Would she forgive me
I should soon know
My hopes were high
No reason to lie

Rhodiola rosea gave me
The strength to carry on
To the place where she'd be waiting
The central station Pantheon

And there she was
Her eyes blue as the sky
And there was I
Trembling, about to die

It was freezing, I didn’t mind
Because people were so kind
Would she forgive me
I should soon know
My hopes were high
No reason to lie

Forgiveness was hard to get
And I would never bet
But then she smiled
And all good reason applied

I was forgiven
But we were not even
I wanted to take her so high
To the end of the sunny sky

Tell me I exaggerate
And I don't care
Those who win
They must dare

They must dare...

17) SMOOTH JAZZ

Uptempo or smooth jazz
It really doesn't matter
But I admit, tired
I prefer the latter

The groove is divine
Euge Groove is so fine
Late at night
When I can't sleep
Slowly it makes me fall
In dreams so deep

So many great names
Even more great songs
Love is always in the air
For me, I hope it's out there

Smooth jazz, so sweet,
Sophisticated
Always makes me feel
Domesticated
Saxophone,
Keep making me feel alive
'Cause in my life
I have to strive

I long for love
The feeling is humiliating
Love should be all around us
Why are people complicating?

Smooth jazz guves me hope
There's still someone for me
I wish I could walk down a slope
Hear her say laughing „catch me“

Smooth jazz, so sweet,
Sophisticated
Always makes me feel
Domesticated
Saxophone,
Keep making me feel alive
'Cause in my life
I have to strive

I've been waiting,
Like crazy, anticipating
Paralysed I have become
Hoping for the groove
To make me move

I know there's still hope
Tomorrow is another day
Maybe a nice face saying
Beautiful stranger, hey!

Smooth jazz, so sweet,
Sophisticated
Always makes me feel
Domesticated
Saxophone,
Keep making me feel alive
'Cause in my life
I have to strive

18) PARTNERS IN CRIME

I didn't have a dime
We became partners in crime

Deception, passion
Her husband didn't know
She'd say she was
On a business trip
He only cared to have a sip

Different cities, various targets
Banks, jewels, a great story
Gold was her obsession
And I enjoyed her passion

Partners in crime
Having such a great time
Sinners in bed
Never scared of being shot dead

Thrills were our pills
Sex was pure chills
We never thought it would end
Listening to our favourite band

Paris, London, Florence
Targets were so easy
After good fun
We were so busy

Partners in crime
Having such a great time
Sinners in bed
Never scared of being shot dead

In Madrid people said
Justice, where art thou?
Then we realised
To leave, time was now

Life on the run,
Adrenaline, so much fun
Her husband still didn't know
We drank wine in a chateau

Partners in crime
Having such a great time
Sinners in bed
Never scared of being shot dead

We were never caught
Who would've thought?
Even now, from time to time
We are partners in crime

19) SUCCESS IS NOT FOR US

The band was on stage
But the audience felt the rage

Success, money, girls
At a very young age
They were not ready to change

The agent and producer
Had no empathy
Money was their
Only sympathy

The band just wanted to play
To have fun through the day
They didn't ask for success
And for all the mess

People had big plans
For the band
But the members felt
Like heads in sand

This is not natural, they said
Producers, agents never cared
Machiavelli would have been proud
Of this surrounding crowd

The band just wanted to play
To have fun through the day
They didn't ask for success
And for all the mess

And then it happened
People were shocked
First the singer in rehab
Then the drummer's suicide
The vultures didn’t even
Bother to hide

Funeral, lots of roses
Fans watching from a distance
Success took another soul
But the vultures
stuck to their goal

Even though there was
No band any more
Their unfinished CD
Was in every store

20) THERE WAS A MURDER

A beautiful body on the floor
Motionless, close to the door
A woman in her twenties
Never had a chance
The killer performed
his bloody dance

The neighbours were in denial
It simply couldn't be true
The victim was a witness at trial
Didn't even reach the phone dial

There was a murder
A young life extinguished so early
A courageous witness to be
In a pool of blood
That everybody could see

The police were hesitating
Why? It was so irritating
The detective said
They would find the killer
We all hoped it would
Not turn out to be a thriller

This case seemed to be connected
To some guy who had defected
International intrigue at its best
Or just a psychological test?

There was a murder
A young life extinguished so early
A courageous witness to be
In a pool of blood,
That everybody could see

Some people were hopeful
They trusted the police
Some were suspicious
That there wouldn’t be peace

A woman so young
Helpless on the carpet
So beautiful
To watch was painful

The following day
They caught the killer
Simple case, no thriller

A jealous guy
In the heat of passion
Oh Lord, stop this madness
Please, no more sadness.

21) I TRUSTED YOU

You said I could trust you
love you, adore you

Then like a piece of glass
I felt pain in my heart
Betrayal, hurt like a dart
And you said, you I could trust

Naivety was my forte
Even though I shouldn't admit
Never thought
In my wildest dreams
Adultery you would commit

I always thought
We'd stay together
Forever, ever, wherever
Naivety was not my friend
I realised that in the end

I was not a boy
I had to be prepared
Losing was part of the game
And I was the one to blame

For blaming you now
Would have no effect
Going back to the reason why
No need, you could always lie

I always thought
We'd stay together
Forever, ever, wherever
Naivety was not my friend
I realised that in the end

Your cruelty will accompany me
Devastated I will be
Let bygones be bygones
Can it be my new forte?

22) THEY APPROVED

The thought kept me awake
You and me on the lake
We rowed and rowed and rowed
The seed of our love we sowed

The swans and geese approved
How could they not?
The animals wanted us
To tie the knot

The lake gave birth to love
No more excuses, no more glove
The birds were singing to us
The swans and geese were jealous

A distant thunderstorm
Who cared?
Our lake friends
Were talking to us
We didn't understand
And didn't even demand

Our chakras must've been violet
Indigo children
We became on the lake
Crystal children, next stop?
It depended
If there would be a flop

The lake gave birth to love
No more excuses, no more glove
The birds were singing to us
The swans and geese were jealous

The sun caressed our skin
You said it was all you ever wanted
The moon slowly approached
On the other side it lurked

Such beauty I'd never witnessed
We could see both
The Moon and the Sun
For us it wasn't soon
It was already a deal done.

The lake gave birth to love
No more excuses, no more glove
The birds were singing to us
The swans and geese were jealous

23) IT CAN NEVER BE

You walk and you talk
And all I want to do is mock
Mock the way you talk

When I met you, love at first sight
Now I realise, I was not right
You're not the one for me
No, us, it can never be

I don't want to offend you
Never have I done such a thing
Your posh behaviour
No space even for a fling

To be simple, modest
That is what I'm all about
The acquaintances wouldn't approve
The friends would shout

The heart can deceive
The eyes easily become naive
Beauty is a dangerous thing
I’m so sorry, I have to leave

People will accuse me
Of being shallow
Guilty as charged
The first sight fool
From now on
A different rule

To be simple, modest
That is what I am all about
The acquaintances wouldn't approve
The friends would shout

24) YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE GAME

Tell me you didn't mean it
That it was just a rant
I am a celebrity
I don't need your charity

You think I'm shallow
Parties, wine, music mellow
You don't understand the game
You want me to be the same

You’ve never had to work
Rich daddy, famous in New York
I was just a lonely boy
Tired of being called a dork

There was an opportunity
I had to take
Never thought of it as a mistake
And if I have to play the game
I don't need your blame

Support,
Do you know what it is?
Well, maybe just a little bit

Being posh is not who I am
But the rules are not just for them
That dork will never come back
I am new me
Too bad you can't see

If the break-up is an option
Is there anything I can do?
You throw glasses at me
And care more about your hairdo

There was an opportunity
I had to take
Never thought of it as a mistake
And if I have to play the game
I don't need your blame

Understanding is not easy
God knows I have tried
Our backgrounds
So much difference
Do I have to add to it
Your daily verbal dance (US English)

I wish we could sort this out
Please, don't ever shout
We'll pick up the broken glass
And forget all the doubt

25) FINALLY SAILING

Tell me you love me
I don't care
Where were you
When I needed you?

Unbearable waiting
No trace of you
In love falling
Constantly calling

Ballads were my killer
Empty room, karmic doom?
Yearning for love
The waves that rushed through
My body meridians
Were ready for love torrents
Ready for romantic ambience
Not for loveless torments

Tell me you love me
I don't care
Where were you
When I needed you?

Then I changed my mind
Hate started to prevail
A toy I didn't want to be
This love would never set me free

Now I'm sailing
Into the sunset in the offing
Waiting for sunrise
To remove my love demise

I don't know you any more
Attention you don't deserve
There must be someone out there
Who wants to care

26) THE OLD CLOWN

I don't want to miss the station
End up in another nation
Duality was a friend of mine
Now it's really out of line

It was good for a while
Acting in order to score
Time has come to settle down
No more space for the old clown

Circus clowns would've been jealous
My behaviour, a real menace
Less to society, more to myself
Time to store it on a shelf
