Chapter 1 --LOGOS START THE FILM.... FADE IN TO: The entrance to an old driveway. It is NIGHT. The driveway is a dirt one, with tall oak trees lining it. MOVE UP We go up the driveway and come out into a clearing where there is a fountain, like in the rich houses. But this one isn’t WORKING. No water is in it. Next we see the house. It is three stories, made out of wood and old and looks like it is on its last limb. Some of the windows are boarded SHUT and the old wood is rotting and CRACKING away. CONTINUE FORWARD Forward into the trees. It is almost pitch black. On one of the trees, we see a girl HUDDLED UP against it, her knees at her chest. She is wearing a white wife beater, and pajama pants. She has BLOOD all over her, and her FACE is dirty and spotted with blood. This girl has been through hell, we can see that already. She is rocking back and forth. As we get closer, we see that she is whispering something. “He came back, he came back, he came back....” FADE OUT --OPEINING CREDITS PLAY. MUSIC STARTS. Chapter 2 BLACK FADES TO: A bedroom door. It is decorated with posters of rock bands; girl bands. INT. OF BEDROOM A girl [KATIE THOMPSON] is putting on her shoes. This is the same girl that we saw in the beginning, but she is CLEAN and not soiled at all now. Her room is decorated with girl things-posters, dressers with makeup, etc. She finishes and gets up, looks in the mirror, and runs a comb through her hair. She walks over to the stereo and turns it off. MUSIC STOPS. INT. OF KATIE’S HOUSE-KITCHEN A woman is frying eggs. At the table, a boy, about eleven or twelve, is eating already. Katie walks into the kitchen. KATIE Hey mom. MOTHER Hi, honey. You’re just in time. Breakfast is done. KATIE Cool. She sits down across from her brother. He picks a piece of the cereal that he’s eating and THROWS it at her. She grins and throws it back at him. At this time her mother puts her plate in front of her, and then SITS DOWN to eat herself. MOTHER So, Katie, did you study for that test? KATIE Yes, mom, I did. I told you I would. BROTHER No she didn’t. KATIE Yes, I did. She looks at her brother with a look that says “shut up”. MOTHER What did you say? BROTHER She didn’t study. She was on the phone with her boyfriend. MOTHER Really? KATIE (looking disgustedly at her brother) Tommy called for a few minutes, okay? We talked about school. BROTHER (smiling slyly at her) No, they weren’t. Believe me, they weren’t. KATIE Shut up, you little idiot. BROTHER What are you gonna do about it? KATIE You wanna find out? MOTHER Hey, you two, stop it. Now, Katie, you know the rules. I don’t want Tommy calling past ten. KATIE I know mom. I didn’t talk long. It won’t happen again. MOTHER So, what were you two talking about? KATIE Nothing. MOTHER (grinning) Okay, sure you were. As long as you just talk about it, that’s fine. Katie grins slightly and looks down. She knows that her mother knows what they were talking about. MOTHER To change the subject, are you and your friends still planning to go to grandpa’s house? KATIE Yep. Thanks again for letting us go, mom. Its gonna be really fun. MOTHER Well, you’ve earned it. You’ve got good grades all through high school and I think you deserve a vacation. Just remember, though, grandpa really liked that house, so don’t wreck it. KATIE We won’t mom. BROTHER (sarcastically) Can I come, too? KATIE In your dreams, squirt. BROTHER Don’t call me that. KATIE Would you rather I call you pipsqueak? Her brother gives a sarcastic look. Katie quickly finishes her food. Her mother looks at her strangely. MOTHER Do you need more? KATIE (grinning) No, I’m fine. I just want to get to school. MOTHER Well that’s a first. KATIE I’m meeting Michelle and some others before school. MOTHER Yeah, I figured that it had to be something like that. You couldn’t just want to go to school to learn. Katie grins at her mother. She picks up her plate and puts them in the sink. KATIE Okay, I’m off. MOTHER Okay. Have fun. I love you. KATIE I love you too. Bye pipsqueak. She walks out of the room. Her brother yells at her-HEY! She smiles back at him and then picks up her backpack by the door and HEADS out to her car. It is a nice car. She gets in and turns the ignition. Chapter 3 TOP OF SCHOOL BUILDING LOOKING DOWN Some kids, not many, are walking up to it. It isn’t quite time for school to start. FADE TO The front of the school. A girl [MICHELLE BARRIE] is sitting on the bike racks. Michelle sees Katie walking towards her. She WAVES and Katie waves back. Katie reaches Michelle. KATIE Hey, what’s up? MICHELLE Not much, just waiting for the rest of you. KATIE Why did you come so early? I’m early and you were here before me. MICHELLE Oh, my mom had some business errands to run, so I got dropped off early. KATIE What happened to your car? MICHELLE The oil needs changing or something like that. It’s at the shop. I have to pick it up tonight. KATIE Did Sarah and Jessica say when they’d be here? MICHELLE No, but they’ll probably be as late as possible. KATIE (laughing) Yeah, that’s true. Michelle leans back even farther and gets in a more comfortable position. Katie sits beside her. MICHELLE Did Tommy call you last night? KATIE Much to my mom’s agitation. MICHELLE What did you guys talk about? KATIE This weekend, of course. MICHELLE I could have guessed. KATIE Is Mark coming, too? MICHELLE I don’t know. He said that his dad is really pushing him to get another job, so he doesn’t know whether or not he can make it. KATIE I hope he can. JESSICA (O.S.) He can. Michelle and Katie look back, STARTLED. JESSICA TAYLOR and SARAH BENSON are walking towards them. MICHELLE How do you know? JESSICA Chad called me last night. He said that all of them are going, including Mark. MICHELLE Cool. JESSICA I have the money, I got the food, and now all we need is a car. SARAH We can take mine. JESSICA Well then, it’s settled. We’re gonna have an awesome time, girls! They all laugh and cheer. KATIE Are the guys coming up with us? JESSICA No, they’ll be coming up about an hour after we get there. They have to wait until Louis gets off work. SARAH You guys, listen. My parents don’t know that the guys are coming, and I think it had better stay that way. All the girls nod their heads in agreement. JESSICA My mom would have another baby if she knew what I was planning. KATIE Yeah, I know what you mean. My mom gets nervous when Tommy calls. I don’t know what she’d do if she knew he was spending the weekend. SARAH Speaking of that, are you guys sure about it? Inviting the guys over? JESSICA Are you kidding me? We’re almost out of high school and there’s a lot of shit that me and Chad haven’t done yet and that’s all gonna change this weekend. No one has to know what we do except the four of us and the four guys, okay? SARAH Yeah, I guess you’re right. JESSICA Of course I’m right. Now, there is one thing I want to know. This cabin we’re going to, what’s it like? KATIE To tell you the truth, I’m not sure. I’ve never been there myself, and my mom has only told me somewhat about it. It’s old, um, it’s in kinda bad shape and beyond that, I know nothing. MICHELLE Sounds like the perfect place. KATIE Let’s hope so. By this time, more kids have arrived. One kid approaches them. He is a NERDY LOOKING GUY. TRAVIS Hi. What are you four talking about? JESSICA Wouldn’t you like to know. TRAVIS Well, I came over here because I wanted to ask you something. JESSICA What? TRAVIS Well, my parents are leaving this weekend, and I wanted to know if maybe you wanted to come over and spend the night? Maybe we could, you know... Jessica looks at the others in a surprised, disgusted look. JESSICA Look here, Travis. If I had to choose to spend the night with a guy, you would be at the very bottom of my list. I mean, I think I would rather cut off my arm than see you naked. So just walk away. Go! Get out of here! Travis walks away, his head down. Jessica turns back to the girls and gives them a “what the hell was that about” look. They all LAUGH. KATIE Look you guys; I think I’d better head in. I need to re-take a test in History, and this is my only chance. MICHELLE Yeah, I’d better go too. SARAH See you guys in two days! They all walk away. STRIP CLUB SONG PLAYS. Chapter 4 INT. OF STRIP CLUB The first thing we see are a couple of GIRLS DANCING on poles. MANEUVER AROUND CLUB We get to three guys sitting at a table. [CHAD MARLIN, MARK SOGETTO, and TOMMY HINDELLI] CHAD What the hell is taking Louis so long? He got off work fifteen minutes ago. MARK He probably just got held up at a stop sign or something like that. CHAD Yeah, well he better get here soon. MARK I hope no one checks our passes and sees they’re fake. CHAD Relax, man. My uncle owns this place. No one will question any of us. A waitress comes up topless, holding a tray with drinks on it. She hands one to each of the guys and walks away. At this time, LOUIS SHERMAN shows up and slides in at the table. CHAD Louis, we were just talking about you. How’s it going? LOUIS Fine, man. How’re you doing? CHAD Good, good man. I’m looking forward to this weekend. They all nod. MARK Well, I think it’s time to spice up this party. He takes some WEED out of his pocket and lights it. He takes a puff on it and hands it to Tommy, who looks at it in surprise. TOMMY Dude, that’s weed! He doesn’t smoke it and He hands it to Mark, who puffs and hands it to Chad. CHAD Damn. That stuff is the shit. The weed makes its way back to Tommy. TOMMY You guys, I don’t think that we should be doing this. I mean, it is illegal. The guys look at him in DISGUST. TOMMY Hmmm. Never mind. He hands it to Mark again, who takes another whoof and then another. CHAD Okay, big boy, I think that’s enough for you. Mark sighs. He is high, since he hasn’t had much weed before. Plus the FOUR OR FIVE beers he has downed. A waitress walks by. He reaches out and stops her. MARK Hey! What’s up? Do you like me? All three guys burst out laughing. TOMMY Excuse my friend, ma’am. He’s a little out of it. The waitress looks skeptically at Tommy and then walks away. MARK Man, what’d you do that for? I was gonna score. TOMMY Dude, you have a girlfriend. MARK (out of it) Michelle. Yeah, I love her. She’s hot. CHAD Guys, I think we need to get Mark out of here before he wets himself or something. TOMMY I’ll take him home. MARK But I don’t wanna go home. I want to score. TOMMY Just think about Michelle, dude. Come on, let’s go. He picks up Mark and they walk out the door. Chad and Louis sit there, shaking their heads. LOUIS (raising his glass) To this weekend. CHAD (rising his own glass) To this weekend. They drink the last of their drinks. CUT TO: The side of the road, and the car goes speeding by. CUT TO POV FROM The entrance of a driveway, the same one in the beginning. It is almost nighttime. The car is just now pulling into it. The girls look around in awe. As they drive, the trees EMANATE sinister shadows on the car, making an eerie scene even eerier. The car continues up the driveway and finally reaches the OPEN area. All the girls STARE at the house. MICHELLE Come on. JESSICA You gotta be shittin’ me. KATIE I told you it wasn’t too good. JESSICA It looks like it’ll come crashing down at any moment. SARAH It’s good enough, okay. We can’t be picky. It’s only for the weekend, and it’s free. The car stops and the GIRLS hop out. JESSICA Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s check it out. They grab some of their bags from the trunk. Chapter 6 INT. OF HOUSE-FRONT DOOR It suddenly flies open and the four girls are standing there. They slowly walk in. SARAH This place is huge. KATIE Whooo. JESSICA Let’s check out the rooms. MICHELLE You can if you want, but I’m gonna check out the kitchen first. KATIE I think I’ll check out the living room. SARAH I’ll come up with you, Jess. They all slowly walk in their different directions. INT. OF HOUSE-KATIE She is walking into the living room. The living room is big and old, it has a couch and on the walls is mounted animal heads and stuff like that. INT. OF HOUSE-MICHELLE She is walking into the kitchen. The sink is old, and as she looks down at it, she can see old red stuff. The kitchen is messy, like someone has USED IT recently. There are plates with grimy stuff on them. She looks over at the refrigerator. It is old and has no pictures on it. The door is AJAR. INT. OF HOUSE-JESSICA She walks down the hall. JESSICA So, what room do you want Sarah? Sarah? She turns around and Sarah is not there. INT. OF HOUSE-KATIE She is continuing to walk THROUGH living room. She looks on the mantle at some of the stuff that is on there. It is mostly old pictures of people she doesn’t recognize. She keeps looking at stuff. She looks down at the fireplace. There are ASHES in it. Someone has BEEN HERE recently. KATIE What the- She stands up, puzzled and a little bit creeped out. She goes to leave and as she does, looks up at the top of the entrance and sees a huge MACHETE lying on racks. KATIE Whoa. She looks down at a corner of the room. Green SLIME is all over the bottom of it. It is ALIEN like in matter, and looks like blood, only green. Katie looks AT IT with a little bit of disgust on her face. INT. OF HOUSE-MICHELLE She is CREEPING to the open door of the refrigerator. She reaches her hand out and she grasps the handle. She BREATHES IN deeply and flings it open. It is empty. She sighs and closes it. INT. OF HOUSE-JESSICA She is turning around and around. JESSICA Sarah? Sarah where are you? Answer me. Sarah walks out of one of the rooms behind Jessica SARAH What? JESSICA (sighing with relief) Oh. Good. I thought maybe you had fa- In the middle of her sentence, a hand comes down on her shoulder. SHE JUMPS. JESSICA Ahhhhh! She flips around and begins pounding the person behind her. CHAD Whoa! Babe it’s me! Stop! Stop! Jessica stops and looks up at the person. JESSICA Chad? CHAD Hi. JESSICA You son of a bitch! God damn it, Chad, what did you do that for? You scared me. CHAD Sorry. We got here early and the door was unlocked, so we let ourselves in. I hope that was okay. JESSICA Yeah, its fine, just don’t scare me like that again. Michelle and Katie come running up the stairs. KATIE Is everything all right? JESSICA Yeah, Katie, everything’s fine. MICHELLE When did you get here, Chad? CHAD Oh, a couple of minutes ago. The rest of the guys are waiting outside. KATIE Let’s go out and get the rest of our stuff, you guys. This house is giving me the creeps. JESSICA Oooooh, is it haunted? Katie gives Jessica a sarcastic look. They all walk down the stairs and disappear out of view. PAN OVER We are now looking at the window. Outside, a shadow quickly flies by the window. We don’t know what it is, but we know it can’t be good. Chapter 7 INT. OF HOUSE-LIVING ROOM-NIGHT The girls and guys are sitting on the couches and chairs. Jessica is sitting on Chad’s lap in one of the chairs. Michelle, Mark, Louis, and Sarah are all sitting on the couch. In the other chair, Katie is sitting on Tommy’s lap. A fire is going in the fireplace. CHAD Real nice place you got here, Katie. KATIE (sarcastically) Thanks. JESSICA (speaking to Chad) You know, there’s a good thing about this house. CHAD What? JESSICA It’s really big, so people can’t hear what’s going on. Chad smiles and they kiss. JESSICA Let’s go. They get up and walk out the door. MARK Horny bastards. MICHELLE I don’t blame them. You’re looking pretty hot tonight. MARK So are you. They snuggle closer. KATIE You two need to go somewhere if you’re gonna continue doing that. We are here to talk. MICHELLE Talk? Well, I think I’d rather go upstairs. What do you say, honey. Wanna go upstairs? MARK (smiling) Sure. They get up. MICHELLE Bye. They walk out of the room and up the stairs. It is just Sarah, Louis, Katie, and Tommy left. Katie sighs and looks around. KATIE This house brings back a lot of bad memories. TOMMY How? You said you’d never been here before. KATIE I haven’t, but just hearing all the stories that my mother told about her and my dad, it just seems like they are right here with us. The lights FLICKER. Power trouble?? LOUIS Your dad was arrested, wasn’t he? KATIE Yeah. Fraud. 25 years.
