Title Card: "The Silver People"
EXT. SPACE VIEW OF PLANET
In a distant galaxy, a planet shines of silver and gold while the other half is cast in a dark shadow. The planet is warmed by a large yellow-white sun nearly fills the frame.
EXT. PLANETS OCEAN-DAWN
As we fade into the surface of the planet the sunlight shines on its yellow gold like oceans. In the ocean we find its inhabitants swimming in peace. A large one-eyed fish, bird like eels and golden algae on the surface.
EXT. PLANETS SURFACE
Rising to the surface from the water we find the planets land consist of three layers, the top layer is silver gravel covering, below that gold fur and at the core hot lava. In the near distance we see some of the people of the planet, an early riser is leading a small group of youths on a trail, their bodies are completely silver almost glowing with only their eyes and mouths showing through.
EXT. RESIDENTUAL HOMES-SUNRISE
A residential area, brightly lit cone shaped houses line up neatly down the streets. On top of each home there is a disc shaped communication dish at the center. We zoom in the find the inhabitants of one of the homes, a male and female couple, Zol and Zell the male is preparing to leave.
Where are you going Zol?
I'm heading over to Gold City, I'm going to try and trade in my zolux converters
EXT-FRONT OF HOUSE-EARLY MORNING
Zol hops into a yellow scooter like vehicle that floats several feet from the ground. Inside the hovercraft are advanced controls and a television map screen. His vehicle connects onto a computer-controlled freeway where there are hundreds of other vehicles in different colors heading in the same direction at lightning fast speeds.
RADIO SPEAKER (O.C.)
Vivid lane clear for transport
Zols vehicle is loaded on ramp that leads straight into the heart of Gold City. It is a humongous gold building, dome shaped, that floats above the ocean with thousands of internal small buildings and skyscrapers inside of it.
EXT. ZOLS HOUSE-LATE DAY
Back at Zols home we find Zell doing household chores. Suddenly, her attention focuses on the television screen as a president like silver man makes a speech. The picture is three-dimensional and has red lines that wave over the picture.
SPEECH PRESENTER (O.C.)
My people, I do not think we should enter the dark side. Curiosity is not a good enough reason. When you cast your vote remember all that you have now. Remember how we have thrived in peace and harmony for two million years; let's not throw that away to be explorers.
SPEECH REBUTTER (O.C.)
My people, we have the technology to safely explore these regions now, we cannot let an age-old fear halt our progress and development. Who knows what secrets the dark side may have, new medicines, new fuels, ancient artifacts, perhaps even more. Vote the right choice on this issue, vote for your future.
A large crashing noise comes from the front of the house. Terror is seen in the eyes of Zol's wife as she glances in front of her and several dark shadows cast over the room.
Zol's vehicle coming back on the freeway at lighting speeds
Zol parks vehicle in front and is shocked to find the front of his house caved in from some explosion. Frantically he runs into the house.
On the main viewer screen there is a message left for him in large red bold text, "WE HAVE TAKEN YOUR MATE" Zol presses a button that causes the text to scroll to a new screen, "IF YOU WANT HER BACK ALIVE MEET AT KIRBINE MUST", he scrolls again, "WELL BE ON THE DARK SIDE".
Overwhelmed with fear and anxiety Zol slowly collapses to the floor. He is in a state of confusion, looking around the room thinking, he does not know what to do.
EXT. HOUSE OF ZOLS FRIEND-NIGHT
Zol's vehicle is parked in front
INT. FRIENDS LIVING ROOM
Pac, Zell has been kidnapped, I'm not sure who did it, and you're the only one who can help me.
Pac sees the look in Zol's eye; he knows what he wants from him. Pac opens a neon orange safe like cabinet. As the door opens automatically both of them look in amazement at a silver gun like laser weapon.
This is prohibited everywhere, you could be penalized just for knowing that I posses one.
(slowly picking up the gun)
Why wont you consider another alternative, try to reason with them. Our people haven't believed in violence for thousands of years.
(taking aim with the gun)
I know, but I have a feeling I'm not dealing with our people.
EXT.-SILVER GRAVEL DESERT-NIGHT
Zol races his vehicle in the far skirts of the desert. Almost no one has ever traveled so far; it is an isolated area, void of any life or structures. The vehicle is heading toward the meeting place with wind and debris flies from under the hovercraft lights. Just ahead at the horizon, the end of the desert, here is where the dark side of the land begins.
CAR COMPUTER (V.O.)
(lights flashing blue)
Emergency warning!! Attention driver!! Vehicle is prohibited to this point!! Vehicle is prohibited to this destination!! Driver please respond!!
Zol ignores the warning and gives the dashboard a dirty look.
CAR COMPUTER (V.O.)
Vehicle will go into automatic shutdown in ten seconds, 10,9,8,7,6....
In a mad panic Zol punches the dashboard computer several times, finally breaking through. He rips the unit out as its countdown is still in progress. Finally succeeding, he then tosses the unit with it's many wires and circuits hanging out of its exterior out the window. We see the computer smash to the ground as its countdown reaches the number 1 and in the distance we see Zol's vehicle disappear into the dark atmosphere that seems to absorb it.
EXT. SPACE VIEW OF DARK SIDE OF PLANET
The camera now focuses on the exterior of the dark side of the planet. It is harbored by a dark decayed moon.
EXT. DARKSIDE OCEANS-NIGHT
As we zoom in closer we see it's oceans consist of all sorts of waste, radiations, poisonous gases floating around and a sea bed loaded with rotted plants and vegetation. Moving closer into the water its inhabitants are grizzly diseased creatures. A dirty dark brown ball of hair with eyes consumes an insect like fish and then a large red and black devilish shark with warts consumes him.
EXT. DARKSIDE LAND-NIGHT
Next, moving up to the land it consist of contaminated black dirt, a second layer of green mold and hot lava at its core.
EXT. ZOLS HOVERCRAFT PARKED-NIGHT
Zol's hovercraft stops near a small hill; he gets out of the car and looks around. His silver body now appears darker, almost coated with the darkness, as the air around him is dry, dark and dusty. In the near distance behind Zol appears two sets of red eyes starring at him. As Zol is looking around they slowly descend closer to him from behind. Zol walks a few feet and suddenly turns around when he hears whispers in the darkness. As soon as he turns the red eyes disappear into the darkness.
Suddenly, the earth below Zol seems to move and he looks behind him and sees his car sucked into the ground and disappear. Zol is shocked and looks very nervous.
Who's doing this?!! Come out and show your face!!
Suddenly, right in front of him appears two creatures. They have pressed buttons on their belts causing them to appear from being invisible. Not completely invisible, more like a dark ghost shadow, which is stealth like and difficult to see. In full form they are completely black, four foot, bald creatures with bright red eyes, only two fat fingers and toes and heads shaped like a bears. Their belts almost seem to be part of their natural bodies.
(In a deep dark voice having difficulty speaking the language)
Come with us....or she will die
Zol nod's his head in acceptance and the two creatures grab hold of his arms and press buttons on their belts causing all three of them to go black translucent and then fade into the ground below them.
INT. AN UNDERGROUND CAVE
Zol is escorted by the two creatures through a dark cave that is only slightly lighted by a small stream of hot charcoal like lanterns that sink only a foot off the ground. Throughout the cave are various tunnels, some of them filled with shadows moving up and down. They are leading him too a main throne room where their king presides. In this large room it is very busy with various creatures of different sizes doing all sorts of exercises and training with each other including activating their stealth belts. Soon, Zol is placed before the king who is seated at a throne like stone atop of a few steps with several guards on each side of him. Too the left of Zol he can see his hovercraft in some kind of holding cell but accessible. To the right of him is his wife, tied up by her arms dangling above what appears to be an endless hole in the ground. Her body is badly scarred and she is not conscious. A few feet in front of him is his laser gun, just laying there as if the creatures did not know it was a weapon.
Why did you do this to us, we are peaceful people!! I'm just a simple man, give me back Zell!!
(in a dark deep voice)
Shut up silver man. I'll be giving you the orders. We want only one thing from you and if you don't give it to us you will watch your mate die and then you will die.
What is it that you want? What could you possibly need from me?
The access code to Gold City
(his eyes squint with seriousness)
The look of shock and fear comes over Zol's face, as he could not have imagined this plot by them that could lead to destruction for his peaceful world. In a panic Zol thinks of something to do, looking down he hesitates picking up his weapon.
Zol sees several creatures burn Zell on the back with their charcoal sticks. After seeing this Zol quickly grabs his gun and holds it up towards the leader.
(waving his gun around at various creatures)
All right, that's it!! Now I'm in charge here! Now I don't want to use this thing, but it is very powerful and I could kill you all with this! Now let her go right now!!!
Ha,ha,ha!! Go ahead!
(the other creatures laugh quietly in the back round)
Ok, you leave me no choice
Zol aims towards the king and squeezes the trigger, he is surprised to find that the weapon does not fire, he tries again with no luck.
Ha, ha, ha, ha!! Do you think we are dumb? You think we don't know technology! We have disabled your tool. You have one hour to make a decision, then we will kill.
Three guards grab Zol and carry him off down a side tunnel.
INT. A NEARBY CELL
Zol is thrown inside a small prison cell, the floor is wet and greasy and he can hear his wife screaming from the torture in a vent on the wall. Zol puts his head in his hands and kneels to the ground ready to cry.
INT. THE THRONE ROOM
Several creatures surround the hovercraft, poking at its inner circuitry, taking pieces off hear and they're with primitive tools. The king watches on as some of them retreat back and forth handing him small black clay tablets that seem to be reports of some kind. A few feet away a very short creature is enjoying slicing Zells legs with a sharp weapon as he looks at her genital.
Zol lifts his head up and he looks down to realize that his gun is on the floor. An idea comes to him. He begins to disassemble the weapon and after a minute he removes some microchip from it and conceals it on his body. Soon the guards arrive and bring him back to the main room.
INT. THRONE ROOM
Well silver man what is the code. (angry) the code!!!
All the creatures begin chanting over and over again in a creepy whisper, the code...the code......the code.......Zol glances over and notices that a creature is holding a sharp object over Zell preparing to cut the rope loose.
Allright!!(annoyed by the chanting) I'll give it to you, but it is programmed inside my vehicle, I can get it from there.
Zol walks over to the hovercraft, no one gets in his way at all. He leans into it trying to hide the fact that he is now pulling out the circuit chip from the gun and is placing it into the circuit board under the dashboard. He connects a few optical wires and then throws a few switches. He steps forward and folds his arms while looking at the king.
Well that's it. It should be relaying it any minute now guys, all set.
CAR VOICE (V.O.)
Laser gun is disabled permanently. SELF DESTRUCT in 5 seconds, 5...4...3...2...1....
(shocked and upset, screaming)
Zol leaps over and kicks the creature that was holding zell in the stomach as the hovercraft vehicle blows in a huge explosion, which incinerates several creatures instantly. Zol cuts her down and helps her to escape; Zol takes the knife, takes aim and throws it at the king. It lands right in his throat and silences his screaming.
Quick we have to get out of here now!!
(In a very weak voice)
(leading towards a nearby side tunnel)
There is pandemonium in the cave as the king lies their dieng and the explosion sets off a chain reaction that catches fire to all the charcoal lanterns which are so low to the ground causing the entire cave to catch fire. Dozens of the creatures are in panic switching there belt buttons to and from invisibility mode, some only can become invisible half way as the other half of their bodies are either burning or are badly burnt. The gases continue to build up in the cave and soon the entire cave explodes in a big bang killing all of them and propelling Zol and Zell through the tunnel like a missile.
EXT. END OF TUNNEL-NIGHT
Zol and Zell end up lying in a sewer drain like area.
We made it
The two of them slowly began to recover from all the excitement. Due to her injuries Zell needs Zol to help her walk and they head into the endless desert. After a long walk they finally see the lighter side.
(looking sadly into Zol's eyes)
We can never go back home
What do you mean? Why?
(crying with tears)
Everything is poison here. Were contaminated. We can never return.
They hug and cry into each other as the camera fades further and further away they lay stranded in the middle of the dark desert.
EXT. GOLD CITY RESIDENTUAL AREA
The camera zooms along various homes and buildings as the voice of their leader during a live broadcast is heard throughout the city as we grow closer we see his face on a main viewer in the city square.
SPEECH PRESENTER (O.C.)
(with a fearful and stern face)
Our people, the final votes have been counted. The people want to begin entry on the dark side. I will fight this all the way. I prey for our world.
TITLE CARD:10 years later.....
EXT. SPACE VIEW OF PLANET
The entire planet is now consumed by the darkness. It lay in dark ruins devoid of any life.
TITLE CARD: "TRANSCEND TRAIN"
EXT. MAP OF ROUTE IS HIGHLIGHTED IN RED SHOWING PATH OF TRAIN
EXT. OHIO TRAIN STATION-EARLY MORNING-YEAR 1940
The year is 1940; A train awaits departure for New York. The sound of many voices becomes audible. The platform is busy with people loading the train. A train conductor is stationed at one of the train's door. He is a middle-aged man with a mustache.
(Helping a woman with luggage board the train)
Watch your step, madam.
Nearby, A husband hugs and kisses his wife goodbye.
(Hugging his wife)
I Love you honey, I'll call as soon as I get settled in.
I love you so much, see you in six weeks.
A conductor attempts to help an old woman in a wheelchair with her bag.
Let me help you with that, mam.
(Angrily snatching her bag from the conductor)
Get your hands off me you gigolo.
The whistle blows as the last few passengers load the train. A young woman hugs her dog goodbye as her father holds the leash and smiles. A father and his six-year-old son say goodbye to each other.
(With tears in hid eye)
You'd better get going now boy, have a safe trip
I love you, pa.
The train whistle blows again.
He leans from the door and the train pulls out of the station.
INT. TRAIN CARS
Passengers get settled in, some relaxing in their seats while others can be heard chatting in the back round.
EXT. A HILLY AREA WITH TRAIN TRACKS AND SWITCHES-NIGHT
Crane trucks are moving around. Several men in workers caps and clothes are busy working on the train tracks. One of the men is reviewing a stack of maps and diagrams.
(Speaking into a walkie-talkie)
Listen Joe we have a problem here, it's a half-hour job at least; postpone the eight o'clock train.
(sitting in a truck speaking into a walkie-talkie)
OK, I'll radio the head station.
Workman 1 continues working. A voice comes over his walkie-talkie.
Mike! We really do have a problem here, that train already is on it's way! It left at seven o'clock not eight o'clock!!
Al the men's faces are struck with fear as the sound of the train is heard in the distance and a brilliant white glare from the train's lights covers their faces.
Switch the track! Switch the track!
One of the men rushes over and pulls down the track switcher.
Oh my god, there is no other track!
In the near distance we see the track leading off a cliff into a barely completed bridge. The train approaches, the conductor frantically blows the whistle as the workers jump back from the tracks and watch in horror as the train crosses through. Without warning a distortion field forms right in front of the train causing a source less wind around it accompanied by electrical discharges. The train disappears.
(slowly walking towards the end of the track with a puzzled look in on his face)
I don't believe it, there gone?
The other men also look at the empty track with disbelief.
INT. PENN STATION-YEAR 1977
The train slows to a stop. All the passengers on board have traveled to the future and have physically aged with the trip.
INT.TRAINS FRONT CAR
(weary eyed and tired looking much older than before, talking to himself)
What happened, where are we?
Several passengers get out of their seats and begin to look at themselves in disbelief about their older appearance. There is much commotion throughout the cars. People on the platform curiously look at the train as it is a much older model.
INT. TRAIN CAR NUMBER 3
A woman screams. One man looks at his hands in shock..
I feel so weak, my voice?
(to a woman in the seat next to his)
May I see your mirror?
The man stands up abruptly as he stares into his reflection, other passengers pull and fight for use of the mirror so that they can get a glance at their older selves.
(in a scared voice)
I'm old! I'm an old man!
This must be a dream, this cant be real!!
When we left I was a boy, now I'm a man
A black steward looks down into the silver plate that he is carrying and accidentally sees his reflection. In shock he drops it causing all the glasses to go smashing into the floor. The passengers now are trying to exit the cars. The conductor attempts to take charge.
(in a commanding voice)
Please everyone, try to stay calm. Stay together until we can figure this out.
Ignoring and pushing their way out, the passengers exit the train and make their way to the platform.
INT. STATION PLATFORM
(with a sense of urgency)
People, come back immediately, I don't think we should leave the train just yet. We don't know the circumstances of this. An extremely aged woman in a wheelchair attempts to pass by the conductor.
(holding the woman's wheelchair back)
Mam, please stay here, think it is my duty to still be in charge here.
WOMAN IN WHEELCHAIR
(with an attitude)
Get out of my way! I feel like IM going to die here. Look at this my hair is falling out!
(sympathizing with her as he removes his cap)
Mam, when we took off I had a full head of hair, do you see me belly aching?
Within a few moments all the passengers have scattered away in different directions, leaving the conductor standing by his train all alone with his warnings ignored. A Railroad official wearing a uniform approaches him.
(shouting at the conductor)
Where did this train come from? What kind of train is this? What's going on here?
(in a quiet voice) I don't even know how to begin.
The conductor walks back into the train and hits a switch to close the door. The railroad official just stares at him and the train in amazement.
EXT. STREET CORNER-NIGHT
The old boy scrounges scrounges through his ripped pants and rummages up some change, pops it all into a pay phone and has some trouble using this advanced telephone. He dials and the voice of a woman answers.
Hello there, I must speak with my pa.
Your pa? Who the hell is this?
This is Frankie, have you seen my pa, Mister Alexander?
(In a sad voice)
Oh, my God. Is this Frank Alexander? The boy who's train disappeared back in the forties?
Yes, it's me, is my pa there?
I've heard about you. Frank, I'm sorry. Your father past away years ago from a drug overdose.
I don't believe you! I don't believe these lies of the future!
He drops the phone and runs down a dark street in tears.
EXT. SUBURBAN AREA-SAME NIGHT
Two other train passengers, Mike and Jane wander aimlessly through a parking lot.
Where exactly are we going?
