Dandelion

It’s crazy how love can create things, and tear things apart in the blink of an eye. A baby was conceived and was laying in her mother’s womb, like floating in an dark space, being nourished with love; the baby was born. As the tears of the mother’s love splashed on the baby’s cheek the baby stared into her mother’s eyes. The baby could see how strong her mom was in her huge brown beautiful eyes, but could see the hurt in the pit of her heart. The mother hugged her baby as tight and gentle as she could as she knew the nurse was going to take her, and that baby was all she had. But the baby could feel something else, something evil. She could feel the evil lurking in her mother’s heart, the evil of a man who she just couldn’t let out. She knew that the evil of that man was apart of her, she could feel it in her blood, the baby began to cry and then the nurse swooped the baby out of her mother’s arms. The baby finally got to go home, The mother sat and played with her baby. They would giggle when they were suppose to be sleeping, and when the baby slept she slept on her mother’s chest. The beat of her heart was like a lullaby to the baby, knowing that she was right there, and she wasn’t ever going to leave her. There was a man now, lurking around always yelling at the baby’s mom, slamming doors and the mother’s tears were was like a earthquake to the baby’s heart. The man picked the baby up kissed her cheek and hugged her. The baby had mixed emotions, the man then looked at her in the eyes. His eyes pierced through her eyes, The baby could see and feel the hatred of the man, the evil. She could tell he tried to love, but was never taught how. The evil traveled down the baby’s spine like a shock and the baby let our a scream and began to cry. The man shoved the baby into the mother’s arms and threw down a dandelion on the floor, it shriveled up into a brown. He then marched up the stairs. He slammed the door and the mom hugged her baby and whispered in her ear that she would never have to see that evil man again. The mother began to rock her baby, till she fell into a deep sleep.
Rebecca was now a ray of sunshine, a blonde, blue eyed little girl who stood 4 ft tall. She had the world at her feet. She was dancing and skipping in her little flower dress her grandma had made her and the pretty little yellow dandelion in her hands she had almost her whole life. She stopped to smell the flower like she always did and got the same smell, the bitter smell of spring. The dandelion had lasted half her life, it was her good luck charm she thought to herself. She smiled to her self and kept walking when she realized the pavement had turned to a thick dirt gravel, She felt the clouds getting dark as they flowed rather quickly across the sky making it dark for a moment. The sun came back out and she had perfect vision. She smiled and kept walking further. Among dead weeds and liter she found a small beautiful little bird, it was a little perfect bird singing in the middle of trash. She giggled ever so softly as she pet the bird and then kept skipping home. After a while it began to rain, she covered her flower and her head from the rain. She ran to a tree so she wouldn’t get soaked, it was hard to see. Her shoe had came untied and she tripped to the ground with a great thud. She stood up, wiped the dirt off her scratched up knee and kept going for the tree. She got under the tree and was waiting, patiently for the rain to seize. She heard a crack of thunder and whipped around to look around the tree and her dandelion flew from her hands. She shrieked and chased the flower. The storm instantly stopped the clouds went away and the sun shined as hard as it could. Bird’s were singing beautiful tunes, lighting her path. But she couldn’t find the flower. The bird’s began to hum a tune, a depressing type tune. She stopped looking and stood up slowly, the wind blew her hair across her face as she knew the tune; she felt a pit in her stomach. She ignored the pit and whipped around to the ground and began to crawl so she could find her flower when she ran into a man. He lifted her up, the clouds began to shimmer across the sky again. She looked up to the sky and a raindrop fell upon her cheek. The man was leaning on a cane of some sort. It had a globe on the top and she could see herself in it, she looked at the man and seen he had healthy legs stood tall, why a cane? The man introduced himself as Elames, he had traveled from a far away village. He reached into his green leather coat and grabbed the dandelion, bent down to her height and held it in her face. She was so happy that the man had found her lost flower. They began to walk, he showed her the forest and how beautiful the animals were and the beautiful essence of the trees. Educated her on the type of trees and how to skip stones in the small little creek near by. He loved her for her and cared for her. He would say that she didn’t deserve the evil in her blood, she would then think of that evil man, she couldn’t comprehend, couldn’t remember. She looked back to see where she was, It came to her mind that her mother had told her to not go where she couldn’t see her house. She couldn’t see her house. The man kept on going with how perfect everything was that she had forgotten, everything. Time had passed and the man told her he had a surprise for her. She dropped the dandelion and ran ahead to the man, the flower hit the ground with a earthquake thud. The dandelion began to shrivel up and became a dark brown. The man was standing on a hill, A perfect sunset. She came upon the hill and the sun sank she seen dark clouds rolling in like they use to, the bird’s were humming that tune that made her nervous. Her palms became sweaty and started to get cold. She explained to the man that she wanted to go home, her mother was probably out looking for her. He let go of her hand and she began to sink in the dirt, she couldn’t move. He began to yell and scream, he was screaming that her mother didn’t want him, Rebecca was crying she didn’t know what he was talking about. The wind was blowing so hard she couldn’t see and was sinking. She looked at the man and reached out her hand, he grabbed her hand and yanked her up violently. She looked into his eyes, she had seen the same evil in his eyes that she had seen in the man’s eyes that broke her mother’s heart year’s ago when she was born. They were like serpent eyes digging into your heart, she could feel her heart crumble into pieces, she couldn’t breathe. She pushed her hair back and seen her dandelion blow past her, she reached out to grab it and she missed. She yanked her hand away from the man and tear’s rolled down her face and she chased her flower down the hill. She was screaming for the Elames to help her but he just stood there, it had seemed that he was hovering over her. She tripped and rolled down the hill. She hit her head and let out a scream. She screamed for her mom, she was trying to get to me but Elames had her, he had her heart. He ripped out her heart, she pushed away from him and stormed down the hill to her daughter. She was scared, she didn’t know what was going to happen. She got to me and held me, the wind was pulling us apart but we gripped on to each other, she pushed me into her chest and told me to not let go and we were going to make it through this. The little girl seen her dandelion not to far away. She thought she could just reach a little to grab it, she let go of one hand to reach for it, the wind impacted us and we hanging on by two hands. The mother began to scream for her to give her hand, the girl said she just needed her dandelion, it was apart of her. The mother screamed that she didn’t need it, it was no good for her. The mother began to sob, They were pinky to pinky when Rebecca looked at her mother and seen they were about to fly away from each other. The dandelion flew into her hands and there was a huge thud and the wind stopped, they were laying next to each other. It was so quiet, the girl got up and her mother wasn’t moving. She was just laying there, a tear rolled down her face. The girl wiped the tear away from her mother’s face and hugged her mother. The daughter told her mother that everything was going to be ok, the evil man was gone. The mother hugged her baby, the feeling of almost losing her baby was a stab wound to her gut. She couldn’t breathe she just gripped onto her baby and was never going to let go again. Elames was gone, never seen him again. His fingerprints were still on both of their hearts and to this day, there remains a few fingerprints. Fingerprints of evil, of love they both once had. Rebecca was older now, She was in knee deep quick sand, she had to pull herself through it, at her side she held her dead dandelion by her side. The petals were falling off, She kept getting stronger as she pulled herself through it but her legs ache, just like her heart. She made her way through the mud when she looked at her flower. She smelt it.. There was no smell, smell of evil. It was dead to her. She no longer wanted it, she looked at it for the last time and threw it into the quick sand and it sank. She then again started to drag herself through the mud, it made her tired, made her want to give up. No motivation, her chin was touching her chest with her head hanging low until she felt heat. The sun began to shine and the mud began to disappear and was gone. She then seen her mother standing in front of her, Long brown hair, big brown eyes and a glow to her face. The daughter jumped into her mother’s arms, They felt each other’s heartbeat and felt safe. The mother grabbed her daughter’s hand and they began to walk when the teenager looked back at the forest, that started it all. She seen a perfect dandelion on the forest floor, the mother said never to look back but to always look ahead. The daughter smiled and they began to walk away, With the quicksand still stained on there legs.

The End
