Eradication (3) EXT. OF HOUSE The kids are looking for Sarah and LOUIS. They aren’t having much luck. TOMMY Let’s look over there! They run over and yell their NAMES. They get no responses. Maybe something has happened to them???? They look around, but they CAN’T FIND Sarah and Louis anywhere. Chapter 15 ENTER POV FROM The woods. We are seeing it through someone else’s eyes. We see the girls yelling and crying, the guys trying to rationally see where Sarah and Louis could be. It is almost total chaos. Jessica is kneeling on the ground, crying. Her robe is streaked with blood. She is in shock, as are all of them. They don’t know what to do. They are all in shock. EXIT POV All their reactions are blended into each other, so it is total chaos. Mark finally calms down enough to yell out. MARK You guys! You guys, calm down! Tommy joins Mark, seeing as how they needed calm to get out of this thing. He is pretty shook up himself, though. TOMMY He’s right. Guys, we need to calm down if we are going to do anything! Okay? He grabs Katie and SHUSHES her. Mark attempts to do the same to Michelle. Mark Okay. We need to get the hell out of here. Maybe we can take Sarah’s car? Where is it? Katie (through tears) Over there, but there’s no way that I’m leaving without Sarah and Louis. MICHELLE I’m with you, Katie. TOMMY Guys, we HAVE to get out of here. You don’t want to end up like Chad, do you? Let’s go! The girls slowly see that they need to SAVE themselves. They run over to the car. They all get in, and Mark gets in the driver’s seat. MARK I need the keys! JESSICA Shit! Sarah probably has them! MICHELLE I don’t think it would make much difference. Look. They all look at where Michelle is pointing. They gasp. The steering column has been SMASHED to pieces. There is almost no steering wheel, and the ignition is totally shot. MARK Oh no. KATIE What do we do now? Mark and Tommy look at each other in desperation. This situation is going from bad to worse. Chapter 16 EXT. OF HOUSE-WOODS FILTER THROUGH- MASSIVE trees and shrubs. We are DEEP in the forest beside the house. As we get closer, we can make out some figures. One is tied TO a tree, and the other two are talking to another figure. FILTER MORE-- Now it is clear what is going on. SARAH is tied to the TREE with a GAG in her mouth, and Louis is talking to two muscular tall men, all dressed in black, with a design on their shirts. They are both carrying MACHINE GUNS. ZOOM-- These designs are familiar FLASH! Chad’s dead body. He has the same pattern as the designs. Across, and up. Coincidence??? GUNMAN 1 Very good work, Mr. Sherman. LOUIS Thank you, sir. GUNMAN 2 Have you taken care of everything? LOUIS Yes. Everyone has no clue what is going on. B unit is with them now. They have the two experiments with them. GUNMAN 2 You’re not fucking with us, are you? LOUIS No sir. I have pledged my support to Rofana, and that is where my loyalties lie. You can be sure of that. GUNMAN 1 What about the specimen? LOUIS Ms. Thomson is safe. GUNMAN 1 Good. Let’s go join B unit and complete this assignment. First, though, we need to get rid of this one. They turn to Sarah. She squirms and tries to scream through her gag. Louis takes a small communicator out of his ear. That’s who he was talking to on the truck.... GUNMAN 2 Let me have her. I’ll show her a thing or two. LOUIS No. I want her. The two look at each other. Louis is not backing down, even though this man is bigger than him. GUNMAN 2 Fine. You win. Don’t double cross us, or I will mess you up. LOUIS You have my word sir. I would never do that. Chapter 17 INT. OF HOUSE-LIVING ROOM The couples are all in there, trying to figure out what do. KATIE Jessica, how are you holding up? JESSICA How do you think? I just-I don’t know why this is happening?! KATIE I know. I know. Jessica hugs Katie. TOMMY What do we do, you guys? I mean, we have no car, nothing! MARK We have Louis’s truck. We could take that. TOMMY Dude, he has the keys. Besides, I doubt that would work if the car was all smashed to shit. MARK You’re right, man. Well, then what do we do? Does anyone have a cell phone? Katie, does this place have a phone? KATIE No. TOMMY Okay, who has a cell phone? JESSICA (through tears) I do. MARK Where is it? JESSICA Upstairs. KATIE No. No way you’re going up there. MICHELLE Katie, we really need that phone. KATIE Fine. But I’m coming with you. TOMMY No. I won’t let you. KATIE Listen Tommy, it’ll be all right. I promise. I love you. TOMMY I love you too. Be careful. They kiss. Katie and Jessica go up the stairs. Michelle God damn it! Why is this happening? I mean-Chad can’t be dead, he just can’t. I- She hugs Mark, TEARY eyed. Mark consoles her. MARK We’re all gonna make it. All of us. Chapter 18 INT. OF HOUSES-UPSTAIRS-JESSICA’S ROOM Katie and Jessica are cautiously searching for the phone. Jessica I know it was here. I left it right on the dresser. KATIE Let’s keep looking. They continue to search. Katie turns her back on Jessica, searching for the phone. WHISPERS filter through. KATIE Jess, did you say something? She looks over. Jessica ISN’T THERE. KATIE Jess, where are you? We weren’t supposed to split up. It’s not safe. No answer. Katie walks into the bathroom. No one is here. Katie is PUZZLED. KATIE Jessica! Answer me! Where are you? There is no response. Katie walks back into the bedroom and gasps! There, on the bed, is Jessica. She is laying there with her robe undone at the TOP so her chest IS exposed. She is looking straight up at the ceiling, as if in a trance. KATIE Jess? The figure sits STRAIGHT UP. Then the Jessica figure slides off the bed and looks at Katie, her BARE chest exposed. KATIE Jess, what are you doing? TRANCED JESSICA Katie, I love you. KATIE Excuse me? TRANCED JESSICA I love you, Katie. KATIE Jess, are you okay? TRANCED JESSICA I’m glad you got to have sex with Tommy. KATIE What?! TRANCED JESSICA I enjoyed watching it. KATIE Jess, what’s wrong with you? TRANCED JESSICA I like how he rubbed his hands over your body. As she talks, she rubs her HANDS over her OWN breasts. TRANCED JESSICA That’s how a real man does it. I’m glad you experienced that. KATIE JESSICA, SNAP OUT OF IT!!!! As Katie yells this, Jessica flinches, as if coming OUT OF the trance. She looks around. She looks down at her bare CHEST and pulls up her robe nervously. JESSICA Katie, what’s going on? KATIE Jessica, is that you? JESSICA Of course it’s me. Why wouldn’t it be? What’s going on? Why was I standing here topless? KATIE I-I don’t know. This is too much for Katie. KATIE Come on, let’s-let’s go downstairs. We’re not going to find the phone. Chapter 19 INT. OF HOUSE-LIVING ROOM TOMMY They’ve been gone a long time. Do you think something happened to them? MARK Don’t even say that, man. They’re fine. Tommy looks out past the living room, to the room beyond. His head perks up. TOMMY Did you see that? MARK (looking) What? TOMMY Never mind. I just thought I saw something. He puts his head in his hands and sighs. He sighs again, and then LOOKS UP to see-- A MAN dressed in black with the SAME symbol on his shirt as we saw before has a gun pointed to Mark and Michelle’s head. They are staring straight ahead, not moving at all. Tommy GASPS. The man SMIRKS an evil smile. Chapter 20 INT. OF HOUSE-STAIRS Katie and Jessica are walking down them. INT. OF HOUSE-LIVING ROOM Tommy, Mark, and Michelle are all sitting on the couch, solemn faced. Katie and Jessica come walking in. KATIE You guys, what’s wrong? As soon as she says this, the same man comes out from behind here and puts the gun to the back of her head. She stiffens. He pushes on her with the gun. She complies, and sits down on the chair. Jessica sits in the other. TOMMY Sorry, guys. A second man, dressed the same, comes in from the side room. Both of them are MUSCULAR and tall. GUNMAN 3 It is done. GUNMAN 4 Radio A unit. Tell them we are secure. GUNMAN 3 They’re already notified. They should be here any minute. As if on queue, the first two gunmen that talked to Louis come walking in. GUNMAN 3 Welcome, A unit. GUNMAN 2 Finally, we are victorious. GUNMAN 4 Yes, finally. GUNMAN 1 Where is the specimen? GUNMAN 3 Over there. He points to Katie. She looks up at them, scared. The gunman walks up to her. GUNMAN 1 Very good. The boss will be pleased with this. SLAM! The front door is shut and Louis comes into the LIVING ROOM. MARK Thank god, Louis. Please help us! Louis looks at them, and then goes over to the gunmen. LOUIS The girl is taken care of. TOMMY Louis, what-- LOUIS Quiet. He looks around. LOUIS Where are the Yimas? GUNMAN 4 They’re upstairs. GUNMAN 2 We need to get them. GUNMAN 1 Mr. Sherman, guard them. You guys, come with me. They go upstairs, leaving Louis WITH the kids. Chapter 21 Louis is standing over the prisoners. MARK What is going on, Louis? LOUIS I’m sorry about this, guys. But now you know who I really am. MARK Which is what, exactly? LOUIS I am an agent for Rofana. TOMMY What is Rofana? LOUIS It’s a government agency. Top secret. Rofana is the real life X-files, you could say. We investigate the unknown; the things that are, not necessarily paranormal, but close. MARK What does this have to with us? LOUIS That’s not for me to disclose. Let’s just say that it has to do with bloodlines. MARK Bloodlines? LOUIS Yes. But I’ve said too much. Shut up now. Louis starts looking around. ZOOM ON: Mark-He looks over at Tommy. He nods his head. Tommy NODS back. MARK Louis, here comes your buddies. Louis LOOKS over to the stairs. Mark and Tommy JUMP the couch and TACKLE LOUIS. The gun goes flying. The two guys pin Louis down. LOUIS Get-get off of me! MARK Fat chance. TOMMY (to the girls) Run! Get outta here! GO! Michelle and Katie get up and RUN OUT the front door. Jessica doesn’t move. TOMMY Go, Jessica! Run! LOUIS You think you’re free? Just because you got me? I am insignificant. You haven’t met the Yimas yet. You won’t beat them. They will kill you all. MARK Yeah, well, I’ll take that chance. Louis struggles, but the two guys are too much for him. They PUNCH him, knocking Louis out. They get up, and Mark grabs the GUN. They run over to Jessica. TOMMY Come on! They get Jessica and they run to the door. Mark goes FIRST; he opens the door and holds it open. Jessica, in the middle, is about to head when-- A MACHETE flies through the air, STABBING her in the stomach, PINNING her to the wall. She screams! Tommy and Mark are stunned. Mark takes the gun and starts looking around. Tommy takes Jessica’s hand. TOMMY Hang on, Jess. He takes the machete and pulls it OUT. Jessica screams again and grips Tommy’s HAND harder. He sits Jessica down and tries to comfort her. Suddenly a knife punctures Jessica right through the EYES! Tommy jumps back, and Jessica’s hand goes LIMP. He jumps back, and Mark is frantically trying to find SOMETHING to shoot. The machete, lying on the ground, FLIES back into the reaches of the house. TOMMY Mark, lets get out of here! They hurriedly RUN out the door. As Tommy, taking up the REAR, crosses through the door, the machete SLICES his side. He yells and FALLS down. The machete goes back into the HOUSE. Mark goes and helps Tommy up. They hobble down the path. Chapter 22 EXT. OF HOUSE-TREELINE Katie and Michelle are huddled up behind a bush. They see Tommy and Mark coming. They RUN out and help them to the cover of the bushes. KATIE God, Tommy, what happened? MARK We were attacked. MICHELLE By what? MARK I’m not sure. We never saw who it was. TOMMY It was odd. Very odd. KATIE Shhhhhh. Save your strength. GUNMAN 2 (V.O.) You dumb kids! All the couples hunker down and listen as the gunman yells at them. GUNMAN 2 (V.O.) You think you’re so smart, running away. You have only made it worse for yourselves. You will all die, except for you, Katie. You know why. Remember Jack? The gunman stops yelling. The couples stay still for a few seconds, then Mark whispers: MARK What was that about? All of them LOOK at Katie. She has HER HAND over her mouth and is breathing hard. TOMMY Katie, do you know what he’s talking about? Katie nods, still with her hand over her mouth. KATIE My dream...I was wondering why I had it. Now I know. TOMMY What are you talking about Katie? What dream? KATIE I know one of the men in there. MARK What?! KATIE He was-he was investigating my father, Jack. MARK What do you mean? Your father was arrested on fraud. KATIE No-no he wasn’t. TOMMY Okay, now I’m confused. Chapter 23 KATIE My father wasn’t arrested. He isn’t in prison. TOMMY Then where is he? MARK And what does this have to do with what’s going on? KATIE I don’t know where he is. TOMMY I don’t understand. KATIE One day, when I was 12, a man came knocking at our door. The same man that is here, tonight. Joe, I think his name is. He wanted to talk about my father. FLASH TO: Katie’s story. A girl, presumably a YOUNG Katie, is sitting on the stairs. Katie’s mother is at the door, talking to a man (GUNMAN 2-JOE) only he is wearing a shirt and tie. But on the tie is a design. But what.... (These voices and people are the same as the dream that Katie had. Maybe her brain is trying to tell her something....) JOE Ma’am, I’m sorry. I don’t know what to say. He was at work just today. I don’t know what happened. MOTHER Do you have anything else to report? Any clues? Anything? JOE No, I’m sorry, but there’s nothing new. No clues. MOTHER You have to do something, Joe! JOE I’m very sorry, ma’am, but there’s nothing we can do. MOTHER I don’t believe you. You worked with him for over ten years. And now you’re telling me that you have no idea how he could have just disappeared? I don’t believe you. Is there another woman? Please, Joe, just tell me. I deserve that much. JOE There was no other woman. Jack loved you. MOTHER Then what happened? JOE Nothing. Nothing happened, as far as I know. There is no conspiracy, nothing. Nothing is going on here. ZOOM ON-- Joe’s tie. The design becomes clear. THE ROFANA SYMBOL. Across, and up. Apparently Joe is working for them. FLASH TO PRESENT TIME KATIE Then he just left, and we never heard from him again. MARK Your mother never tried to find him? KATIE Sure she did. She was never successful. She never found anything. MICHELLE So, what does this have to do with what is going on? Why did he say that you wouldn’t be killed, Katie? KATIE I have no idea. But I have a feeling that the situation is a lot more complicated than we know. Frankly, I’m scared to find out. Chapter 24 Tommy GROANS. TOMMY What are these “Yimas” that they keep talking about? MARK I don’t know, but they don’t sound too pleasant. The sound of the front door being FLUNG open permeates the scene. The couples all hunker down. There is no sound, and then Mark is hurtled BACK through the shrubs. MICHELLE Mark!! Then she is pulled back as well. KATIE NO! Michelle! TOMMY Let’s get out of here! He struggles to get up and, with Katie’s help, they RUN INTO the forest. They are both covered in BLOOD from Tommy’s wound. They keep going into the woods. EXT. OF HOUSE-PORCH Michelle and Mark are sitting on the ground. They get up and run over to each other. A sound comes from SOMEWHERE in the house. Then a figure WALKS INTO THE DOORWAY. It is clad in a black robe that covers its FACE. Its arms are hidden under OVERSIZE sleeves. It walks out a couple feet and then ANOTHER comes out. They stand next to each other, both of them standing EXACTLY THE SAME way. MARK Who are you? What do you want with us? The figures don’t move about at all. Then one pulls out the MACHETE from his robes. TOMMY Oh God. (To the figures) LEAVE US ALONE! No movement for a while. Then the figure HOLDING THE MACHETE JUMPS UP and goes sailing into the air. It flips in the air, and lands about ten feet PAST Michelle and Mark, FACING THEM. MARK Shit. Michelle, run. MICHELLE I’m not leaving you. MARK Yes. I’ll be fine. I’ll create a distraction. You run. MICHELLE Mark, no! MARK Trust me, Michelle. I love you. He lets her go and steps a couple feet closer to the cloaked figure with the machete. MARK (with a sneer and fake confidence) So, what do we have here? Are you supposed to be the “Yimas”? Come on. I could be scarier than you. (To Michelle-yelling) GO!!!! He lunges at the figure with the machete. Michelle, hesitating for a second, starts RUNNING. Mark reaches the figure, and jumps at him but-- The figure sticks out his free hand, stopping Mark, and he lands on the ground on his back. With a very SWIFT, fluid movement, the cloaked figure slices mark twice. Across, then up. Same as Chad. Mark goes limp on the ground. Michelle, still watching from a distance, SCREAMS. Both the figures move at the same time, heading for her.
