Raphael The Redemption (3) Yeah, let’s say that it is just Like that. JERRY Hey, Raphael, baby, I’m in… Steven comes into the bar and sits down at the bar. Raphael leaves his table and joins him. RAPHAEL Steen, Steven O’Brian. I Recognize you from the CNN Broadcast. STEVEN Yes, hi. Raphael and Steven shake hands. RAPHAEL I’m impressed with your Dedication to world peace. STEVEN Well, just doing my job, As they say. RAPHAEL But, it is just the one thing… STEVEN What thing is that my friend? RAPHAEL Oh, the helicopter business. CONTINUED 34. 38 CONTINUED 38 RAPHAEL (CONT’D) Do you trust these heathen. Maybe, they’ll use the heli- Copters to dump that toxic Stuff all over us and Kingdom Come. STEVEN Let’s hope that they keep their Word, and that they use the Choppers for crop dusting. RAPHAEL But, it scares you a little, Doesn’t it? STEVEN (laughs) A little. Just a little. Steven looks at his watch. RAPHAEL Supposed to meet someone? STEVEN You must read minds. RAPHAEL Yeah, I do a bit. Raphael takes Steven’s hand and holds it firmlly. RAPHAEL Oh, by the way, Steven Where do they keep those Helicopters. 39 INT. STEVEN’S HOTEL ROOM – THE NEXT DAY 39 There is a knock at the door. Steven sits up In bed. He rubs his head. Steven gets up to Answer the door. It is Meghan. They embrace. STEVEN Meghan! It’s so good to See you! MEGHAN Steven, are you all right? DESERT NEAR BAGHDAD, IRAQ – MILITARY BASE - 40 HANGER – DAY Raphael and the Satanist drive up to the military Hanger in a jeep. JERRY Man, the SuperCobra! That baby Can hover Out of Ground Effect at 914 m with four TOW and four HELLFIRE missiles, full turrent ammunition and rockers… with power to spare. Man, you should have Been there. The air… The air was Filled with black burning oil and blowing Sand. The SuperCobra destroyed 97 tanks, 104 armored personnel carriers and vehicles, 16 bunkers and two antiaircraft artillery sites. RAPHAEL I am impressed. You’re my man. JERRY (serious) In a fight, there isn’t any such Thing as second place… RAPHAEL You don’t know how true… 41 EXT. ON THE ROAD TO BAGHDAD, IRAQ – DAY 41 CONTINUED 37. 41 CONTINUED 41 Raphael and Jerry are flying the stolen crop duster Helicopter to Baghdad. Jerry pilots. 42. EXT. A DESERT ROAD OUTSIDE BAGHDAD, IRAQ 42 Meghan and Steven are driving on a desert road Outside Baghdad, Iraq. MEGHAN Steven, there is something that Ive got to tell you. They are driving a jeep and Steven cannot hear Meghan. STEVEN What, Meghan, I can’t hear you. MEGHAN Steven, there is something that I want to tell you. Steven shakes his head. He cannot hear her. MEGHAN I’m pregnant. She looks at Steven and shouts. MEGHAN I’m pregnant! They are silent. The only sound is the wind. The camera Pans towards the storm which seems to be following them. 43 INT. HELICOPTER – DESERT OUTSIDE BAGHDAD, IRAQ – DAY 43 The storm seems to be gaining momentum. Jerry Looks back at it quite often. Raphael is not Bothered. JERRY Wow, that is some storm coming This way. It sure came up all of A sudden. I can even feel the Electricity in the air. Weird. Raphael snaps his fingers at Jerry. RAPHAEL Hey. Hey. Don’t start freaking Out on me. I need you to focus. CONTINUED 38. 43 CONTINUED 43 JERRY And exactly what am I focusing on Raphael. One day I’m a happy Satanist From Houston, the next day, I am flying A stolen Iraquie Helicopter on my way To a secret germ warfare facility outside Baghdad, Iraq. You know, I have some Knowledge of the Occult, Raphael. Meager Though it may be. Whatever you have in Mind, whoever you really are, whatever You really are, I want it known to the Gods and heavens above, that I am not Here of my own free will. I’d lost track Of that the minute I laid eyes on you Raphael. Archangel Raphael. Boy, You must have really pissed God off. RAPHAEL No, but he really pissed me off. The storm is really brewing now. Lightning rends the Air. Jerry concentrates on keeping the helicopter Flying evenly. RAPHAEL Yeah, he really pissed me off… Raphael looks out the helicopter’s window at the germ Warfare facility that was previously shown on CNN. RAPHAEL And as for your free will that God Gave you. Just look at what you Monkeys Have done with it. Armageddon, my friend. Armageddon. The camera pans over the huge, evil looking facility JERRY My God. My God. A sudden, loud lightning bolt explodes from the heavens. Raphael closes his eyes. 44 INT. RAPHAEL’S BEDROOM – HEAVEN – AGES AGO - 44 MORNING Raphael is asleep in his bed. His eyes are closed. Suddenly, a huge lightning bolt rends the air. He sits Up in bed startled. SATAN sits on his bed beside him. SATAN CONTINUED 39. 44 CONTINUED 44 SATAN (CONT’D) A bad dream? RAPHAEL Yes, I’ve lost count lately. SATAN What is it that troubles you In your dreams. RAPHAEL A feeling that I’m falling. That I’m falling to the ends of the Heavens. There is no hand to hold me. To save Me. SATAN Raphael, I am your best friend In all the Heavens. You may always Count on my hand to save you, friend. You can count on it. From the be- Ginning of Creation, I have been there For you. I will be there at it’s end For you. I pledge this to you. Now, Away with these dreams! Satan pulls Raphael up by a very strong grip, almost Out of bed. SATAN Now, let’s be off to supper. I’m Starved. And there is one pretty Angel of the fairer sex, that I Want to share my meal. Let’s be Off! Raphael laughs, but looks out the bedroom window, as a Storm races across Heaven. Lightning bolts hit various Buildings and the far away mountains. RAPHAEL You have my word, Satan, old Friend. No more talk of cala- Mities in dreams. Nor visions. 45 EXT. HEAVEN – GARDEN WALK – DAY 45 Raphael and Satan are walking down a beautiful garden Path. Up ahead is the lovely FEMALE ANGEL. She is Walking with a MALE ANGEL. She laughs and flirts with The male angel. She looks back and seeing Satan, becomes Even more flirtatious with the male angel. The male angel CONTINUED 40. 45 CONTINUED 45 looks back and sees Satan. He looks angry. He puts his arm around the female angel. Satan is becoming very angry. Raphael can tell this And puts out an arm to restrain Satan. SATAN Take your arm away Raphael. RAPHAEL I beg you, reconsider, Satan. Our God would be ashamed of your Actions. SATAN Raphael, I love this girl. I Can’t tolerate her being with a Mere angel. For I am an Archangel. Beloved of God, Beautiful Dawn, as God himself named me. RAPHAEL I beg you friend. Do not harm That angel. He is one of God’s Creatures, as are we all. There Is much fear in my heart for you Satan. Satan runs up to the couple. The male angel and Satan push each other. Somehow, the male angel Accidentally pushes the female angel. Satan becomes Outraged. He takes a silver knife from his belt, And stabs the male angel in the stomach. The celestial song stops. There are a few seconds of Silence. Then a weeping song begins to play all over Heaven. Satan looks down at the dead body. The female angel Covers the body with hers and weeps. It is obvious to Satan that she loved the male angel. Satan drops his silver knife and flees. 46 EXT. MOUNTAIN – HEAVEN – NIGHT A large bonfire has been lit. Satan and Angels which Have gone with Satan to support him, sit around the fire. SATAN Friends, words cannot say What your support means to me CONTINUED 41. 46 CONTINUED 46 SATAN (CONT’D) This hour. ANGEL Satan, we will plead your case To God. We will plead for His Mercy on your behalf. He loves You still. SATAN Tell me friends, does God have Love for me equal to Adam and The rest of the Monkeys? Will He have the same mercy for me As he does for them? ANGEL He loves us Satan. ANOTHER ANGEL You know, Brother, that his love for us isn’t Equal to his love for the monkeys. ANGELS (in unison) How true, how true. There is the music of weeping angels filling the air. ANGEL Then what are we to do? What Is to be done? SATAN Fight! Suddenly, GOD’S SOLDIERS rush the Angels. The Soldiers Kill many of the Angels. Several Angels shield Satan., Trying to hide him. The Soldiers drag off the Angels and Satan. Raphael, who has been hiding in the crowd, falls to his Knees. He weeps. RAPHAEL Satan! Satan! Mercy, Mercy. 47 EXT. GOD’S THRONE – HEAVEN – NIGHT 47 The captured Angels and Satan are dragged before God’s CONTINUED 42. 47 CONTINUED 47 throne. Satan is dragged out first and placed before God. SATAN I ask for mercy, not only For myself, high and mighty God, but for the other Angels. Who, for their friendship to Me did help. GOD Mercy? Satan, how can you ask For mercy. You’ve killed a fellow Angel. A thing of God. A brother. SATAN I kneel before the throne. I beg Forgiveness. I give up my shame To the cosmos. I accept responsibility For this angel’s murder. Pardon The other angels. Their friendship For me clouded their mind. GOD You speak from your heart Satan. You speak well. You will be Punished. No Angel is exempt From Heaven’s law. SATAN Except for the Monkeys that you Love so much. Adam’s Clan. In Spite of their inadequacies. There rises a cheer from the Angels watching this Trial. GOD Step forward Satan and receive Your punishment. Satan steps forward. GOD I cast you out into blackness. Where love from God cannot Find you. Nor salvation, will Await you. And into an eternity so Fathomless you cannot even mark The hour. A light surrounds Satan. He sees Raphael in the crowd and CONTINUED 43. 47 CONTINUED 47 smiles at him. Suddenly, Satan’s body begins to change. He is dressed in a hood. He has a hump on his back. He Is all dressed in black. His body is dragged upwards until It disappears into the Heavens. The other ANGELS are surrounded by the light and they change Into the same black figured. A light drags them off into the Heavens. All the Angels, in stunned disbelief leave the throne. Only Raphael remains. He looks up into the fathomless Heavens. RAPHAEL I held my head down in sorrow That night. Sorrow, that I knew for Certain God loved the Monkeys more Than his own Angels. More than his Morning Star. More than me. I who have knelt before the throne In adoration since Creation, faced This sad truth. God loved Man more Than his Angels. I vowed, that night To put an end to Adam’s Clan, the Monkeys. And then, who would God have To love, but his devoted Angels. Created Out of thought, loved once beyond time. (Raphael hangs his head) And now come to this. 48 INT. CAVERN – BY THE RIVER STYX – NIGHT 48 Satan suddenly appears in a flash. He has been Thrown out of Heaven. He is very sad. He hangs His head in sorrow. CHARON is the old ferry man who ferries the dead Across the River Styx. The River Styx separates The world of the living from the world of the dead. Charon paddles up to Satan. CHARON Satan, exhiled from Heaven I am Charon, the ferry man. I ferry the dead across the River Styx. This river separates The world of the living, from the World of the dead. Satan meekly gets into the boat. Charon rows Away. 44. 49 INT. CAVERN – ON THE RIVER STYX – VARIOUS 49 SHOTS – NIGHT Satan and Charon float down the River Styx. From across the far bank, there are Hundreds of red eyes that watch them in the Darkness. SATAN Ah, woe is me, oh, Archangel Satan, once Beloved of our God, Kneeler at the Throne Of Heaven, come to this. Ah, woe… 50 INT. THE BANK OF THE RIVER STYX – NIGHT 50 Suddenly, Charon brings the boat up To the river bank. SATAN Why are we stopping? CHARON Time to get out. Others To fetch. I go no further Than this place between the Worlds. Between the world Of the living and the world Of the dead. You must make Your way to The Land of Damna- Tion, on foot. SATAN But, I have no guide to show Me the way. Charon ignores him and turns the boat around, Leaving Satan alone in a black, cavernous world. 51 INT. CAVERN – AT THE BANK OF THE RIVER STYX - 51 Satan has built a fire. We can see thousands of Red eyes glowing in the pitch black darkness. Satan takes a rock and throws it at the red eyes. LILLITH (voice over) Ouch! CONTINUED 45. 51 CONTINUED 51 SATAN Who’s there. Show yourself Now! Out of the darkness, walks LILLITH, a beautiful Woman. She has red eyes that glow in the dark, Like a cat’s. SATAN Who are you? LILLITH Lillith. SATAN You are beautiful. You Live here? In this awful Place. LILLITH Let me be your guide. Let Me show you all the wonder And magick of this God for- Saken place. The red eyes surrounding them, seem to advance On them. Satan and Lillith hold on to each other And escape into the blackness. 52 INT. CAVERNOUS MOUNTAIN – THE RIVER STYX ON THE 52 WAY TO HELL Satan and Lillith walk along the river leading to Hell. Lillith suddenly jumps in. There are fishes, Very large with fins. She is having a lot of fun. LILLITH Jump in Satan. It’s fun! Satan jumps in and catches a fin. He is having A lot of fun. Suddenly, the fish dives under, Taking Satan with it! After a few seconds, without Satan resurfacing Lillith dives in to try to rescue Satan. A few seconds later, both Lillith and Satan Emerge to the surface. Both are sputtering Out water. SATAN Why did it do that? CONTINUED 46. 52 CONTINUED 52 LILLITH It knows who you are. 53` FURTHER DOWN THE RIVER STYX – NIGHT 53 Satan and Lillith sit around a campfire. They Are drying their clothes. There is the cry of Wild animals in the distance. SATAN Won’t they stop with all That accursed noise! LILLITH We need to get you safely To Hell, before they eat You, you know? SATAN Eat me! They want to eat Me? LILLITH Don’t be such a crybaby. All you do is complain. I Expected more. SATAN More, you mean, from the High and Mighty Archangel Satan. LILLITH Yes, but then, I always Say, never meet your heroes. Lillith rolls over by the fire and goes to sleep. The growling sounds continue. Satan pulls his robes Around him. SATAN Raphael, if only you could See me now. Red eyes advance on Satan, frightening him, and then Dart away. Satan hangs his head. Lillith purrs in her sleep Like a cat. 54 A DESCENDING MOUNTAIN ON THE ROAD TO HELL 54 CONTINUED 47. 54 CONTINUED 54 Satan and Lillith are climbing down a very steep Mountain road. The road becomes more and more steep. Both Lillith and Satan must use their hands in order To climb down the mountain. 55 INT. MOUNTAIN CAVE – NIGHT 55 Lillith and Satan are seeking shelter in a cave. Satan covers his head and weeps. SATAN What am I, an Archangel Of God, for Heaven’s sake, Doing on this God Forsaken Mountain. LILLITH Stop whining. All you do Is whine. Suddenly, above, thousands of red eyed bats (their eyes are, of course, up side down), open their eyes. SATAN Lillith, what in Purgatory, Is that? LILLITH Bats! Blood sucking bats! The bats bare their fangs and in thousands, chase Satan and Lillith out of the cave. They have no Choice, but to jump. They run outside. 56 INT. MOUNTAIN CAVE 56 Satan and Lillith stand on the narrow, rocky precipice Outside the cave entrance. Thousands of bats swarm around them. They have no Choice, but to jump. They hold hands and jump from The mountain. Satan and Lillith fall through the air. Suddenly, Satan opens his wings and catches Lillith. The bats pursue them. 57 EXT. APPLE ORCHARD – HELL 57 CONTINUED 48. 57 CONTINUED 57 The bats pursue them. SATAN Perhaps we can hide in that Apple orchard. LILLITH Good idea. Fly! The bats fly onwards, not pursuing Satan and Lillith. Satan and Lillith hold each other as the bats fly Off overhead. SATAN Say, these are apple trees. Those apples look pretty good. I’m so hungry! LILLITH Here, let me pick one for you. Lillith scuttles up a tree, with amazing agility. She selects a nice apple. She polishes it on her Sleeve. Lillith scuttles down the tree. She gives the apple To Satan. Satan takes a bite out of it. Lillith holds her breath as she watches Satan eat the Apple. Satan takes one bite of it, and spits it out. He falls to the ground. SATAN You, Lillith, what have you Done to me. I am an Archangel Of God. Satan’s eyes are now red and look like those of a cat. They glow in the darkness. Lillith is delighted. She claps her hands and jumps Up and down. LILLITH This would have happened Sooner or later, Satan. CONTINUED 49. 57 CONTINUED 57 LILLITH (CONT’D) This is the only fruit That grows here. SATAN I was once a mighty Arch- Angel, loved by God. ‘Till One day, I made a terrible Mistake and lost my place, Kneeling at the Throne of Heaven. Cast out of Heaven, Imprisoned here in a darkness So vast, a soul could drown In it. But, now I can see, And with my new eyes, Lillith I will see what this new World can offer. Satan brings Lillith to him and kisses her Passionately. 58 THE ROAD LEADING TO HELL 58 Satan, looking very stately, in expensive robes, Stands before The Road Leading to Hell. As those condemned to an eternity in Hell, walk Down this road, their sins echo from their foot-
