Dreadlock (III)
Stephen Herczeg

EXT: ROOFTOP OF THE IIC BUILDING - DAY

A Hover Bus is parked on the roof. A team of twelve men is assembled. Each wears a uniform of black combat gear, complete with armour and rifles. Dreadlock moves in front of them, dressed as normal.

Zucco comes up to Dreadlock. She is dressed in black fatigues and armour, but carries no gun.

Dreadlock looks her over, with an approving eye.

DREADLOCK

Geez, I wish all the soldiers looked like that when I was in the war.

Zucco’s face screws up and she walks up to Dreadlock, looking him straight in the eye.

ZUCCO

Shut the fuck up or I’ll have you up for harassment quicker than you can toss off.

Dreadlock backs off, holding his hands up in front of him.

Dreadlock

Hey, hey, sorry, it was just a little joke, no offence meant.

Zucco

None taken.

Dreadlock lets out a breath.

DREADLOCK

Geez.

Zucco barks orders at the men, and they enter the bus. She follows.

One of the soldiers moves up to Dreadlock and slaps him on the shoulder. This is DAN BURROWS. He is a strong looking redneck type. A typical blood and guts soldier.

BURROWS

Dreadlock how you going man?

Dreadlock turns, recognises Burrows and smiles. He holds out his right hand and the two men shake.

DREADLOCK

Good Dan, its been what, six years. How’s Brenda and the kids.

BURROWS

Fine, I think. It has been a long time hasn’t it. We broke up about three years ago.

DREADLOCK

Ah, shit man I’m sorry.

BURROWS

Hey you weren’t to know any better. It happens you know. Anyway, how’d you get lumbered with this detail.

DREADLOCK

I’m here to keep watch on Zucco.

BURROWS

Don’t worry, I’ve been doing the same thing. Is it just me or has she got the tightest ass you’ve ever seen.

He makes a cupping motion with his hands.

Zucco sticks his head out of the bus.

ZUCCO

Are you two still coming with us, or would you like to walk?

Dreadlock and Burrows look at each other.

Dreadlock

Yea, except the whole thing is ass.

They both turn and board the bus.

The bus emits a cloud of vapour and climbs.

EXT: SKY above sydney

The hoverbus glides up and over the city. The city is huge. Skyscrapers tower all around. The IIC building is situated on the North Shore of Sydney Harbour.

The bus starts to move south.

The water of Sydney Harbour has long since been lost from view. It is now criss-crossed by dozens of roads for land based cars. The Sydney Harbour Bridge is nestled between two concrete super-highways. The top of the Opera House just peaks above a couple of roads.

The bus moves through an alley way between a couple of buildings. The Centre Point tower can be seen dwarfed by several skyscrapers.

The bus starts to climb more rapidly, it heads towards an air-borne super-highway. As it climbs closer to the blurred lanes of rushing hover-traffic, it accelerates until it disappears into the same blur as the other traffic.

INT: HOVER BUS

Two drivers are seated in the cockpit, an array of computer screens, and switches are before them.

COMPUTER’s voice

Course enabled. Destination plotted. Flight time twenty-three minutes. Automatics engaged.

The pilots sit back. One flicks out a cigarette and lights it, the other opens a book.

In the back of the bus, the dozen men are seated along the bus. They look like war veterans, mainly because they are. They are the IIC’s crack SAS equivalent.

Dreadlock is seated near the back, Zucco is in front of him looking down at an electronic clipboard. There is writing on the clipboard, indicating sides of the Warehouse, i.e. Back Door, Left Side, Right Side and Front Door.

She turns around, and starts talking to Dreadlock.

ZUCCO

Now remember, you’re just an observer. Let these men do all the investigating and any shooting required, and do not get in their way.

DREADLOCK

Yea, I’ll observe alright.

Zucco turns back around. Dreadlock mouths the word "Asshole".

EXT: SKY ABOVE WOLLONGONG

The sky is clear and skyscrapers dot the landscape.

The Hover bus leaves the blur of traffic and descends into Wollongong. It glides through the city and descends, parking across the road from a large warehouse.

EXT: ROAD OUTSIDE OF WAREHOUSE

A police car is parked in front of the warehouse.

The doors of the bus open and the men quickly exit, forming into two orderly lines. Zucco exits, followed by Dreadlock.

ZUCCO

Open comms channels to 1. I want you to move into the positions I assign and indicate your readiness by pressing your comms buttons.

All men fiddle with their wrist communicators. Dreadlock just looks on, his hands behind his back.

Zucco points to two of the men.

ZUCCO

WARNER, YEEND, the back.

The two men move off down the street.

She points to the next two.

ZUCCO

PURCELL, LEE, far side.

The two men move off to the left.

She points to the next two, BURROWS and O’SULLIVAN. She points to the right.

ZUCCO

You two, side entrance this side.

They move off.

ZUCCO

The rest of you form a guard at the front.

The six remaining men move towards the front door, and take up position. They are LEWIS, HOPMAN, HANFIELD, DWYER, RICHARDSON and STORTZ.

EXT: BACK DOOR OF WAREHOUSE

Warner and Yeend move to the back door.

Warner pushes a button on his communicator.

A red light appears on Zucco’s clipboard, next to "Back Door".

EXT: LEFT SIDE DOOR OF WAREHOUSE

Purcell and Lee arrive at the left-hand side door.

A red light appears next to "Left Side".

The "Right Side" light blinks on as well.

Zucco looks up and across the street. The remaining men have taken up position.

The lead man turns and signals with his thumbs up.

Zucco looks back down at the clipboard. She presses the board with her finger.

INT: WAREHOUSE FACING BACK DOOR

The door is kicked in and Warner and Yeend enter taking up a defensive stance either side of the door.

INT: WAREHOUSE FACING LEFT SIDE DOOR

Purcell and Lee kick the door in and enter.

EXT: RIGHT SIDE DOOR

O’Sullivan moves to kick the door in. Burrows stops him. He tries the door knob. It turns. He opens the door and both men move inside.

As the dust settles each group looks around to see that the rooms are full of crates and barrels, nothing else.

ZUCCO

(into wrist communicator)

Report.

WARNER’s voice

Nobody here ma’am. Just crates and barrels. No computers, no people, nothing.

PURCELL’s voice

Same here ma’am.

BURROWS’ voice

And here.

LEWIS’ voice

Lewis here ma’am, similar situation in front.

ZUCCO

I’m coming in.

She turns to Dreadlock.

ZUCCO

You coming.

Dreadlock shrugs, and starts to walk. Zucco walks towards the front and enters the building.

INT: FRONT ROOM OF WAREHOUSE

The room is rectangular, with doors connecting it to the back and sides. A staircase leads up to a loft area. Zucco points to it.

ZUCCO

Lewis, up there.

Lewis moves to the staircase, and starts to climb.

Zucco points to Richardson, Storz and Hopman.

ZUCCO

The three of you start searching those crates. You two go out the back and help Warner and Yeend.

Hanfield and Dwyer move to the connecting door.

INT: WAREHOUSE CORRIDOR

A narrow corridor with a door at each end and one off to each side.

They open the door and walk down to the far connecting door and open it.

INT: BACK ROOM OF WAREHOUSE

Warner is peering over a barrel, trying to prize the top off.

He looks up as the two men enter.

Suddenly, all hell breaks loose.

One of the creatures from the video erupts from the barrel.

It grabs Warner by the throat breaking his neck.

It throws the corpse at the other two men, knocking them over.

Yeend un-shoulders his rifle and starts to take aim.

The creature points its arm at Yeend.

Its arm suddenly extends at high velocity, punching Yeend in the chest, and bursting out the other side.

The creature retracts its arm, and Yeend stands for a second, blood running from his mouth, his eyes going back in his head.

There is a ragged hole through his chest.

He falls forwards, his right hand clenching on the trigger of his gun.

A spray of bullets smashes towards Hanfield. He goes down with six bullets in him.

INT: FRONT ROOM

Several of the barrels suddenly explode.

Their occupants exit and attack the men nearest them.

Strorz has his head taken off. His torso drops to the ground.

One of the creatures jumps onto Richardson biting at his neck.

He collapses.

Hopman is grabbed from behind. He flails around trying to break the hold.

Suddenly, he goes limp as the creature’s hand bursts through his chest.

The creature drops his corpse.

Lewis comes down the staircase, un-slinging his gun in one movement and fires.

The two creatures who attacked Storz and Richardson go down.

The third jumps straight up and grabs hold of the rafters. It scrambles along the beam.

Lewis sprays upwards, but misses.

Suddenly, the door near Lewis explodes outwards as Dwyer’s body comes bursting through.

Lewis is knocked over.

The creature above drops on him, its claws smashing through his head.

It looks around, hisses and bounds off towards one of the other doors. It smashes through. Crashes and screams are heard from the room.

One of the creatures climbs up on the rafters from a side room. It has a shoulder mounted rocket powered grenade launcher.

It fires.

Dreadlock looks up and sees it.

Dreadlock

SHIT!!

He dives to his left, catching Zucco as he moves.

They both fall behind a couple of crates as the grenade explodes near where they were standing.

Dreadlock comes up with his gun in hand, and fires at the creature.

Its chest explodes.

It drops the gun and falls backwards from its perch.

Two creatures re-enter from the right room. They are both carrying the SAS squad’s guns.

They fire at Dreadlock and Zucco. The crate near them spits up splinters as the bullets hit.

Dreadlock dives sideways over a stack of crates and lands on another.

It collapses under him.

He grimaces and grasps his shoulder in pain.

Dreadlock

Shit!

He crawls towards the stack of crates and looks around.

The crate he landed on has broken open; revealing hi-tech grenades.

Dreadlock grabs one and activates it.

He tosses it over the stack of crates.

As it flies through the air, its course diverts towards the heat source of the creatures.

Their expressions change to complete surprise as they both explode in spray of goo.

Dreadlock peers over the crates.

He slowly stands, gun forward.

Zucco stands next to him.

ZUCCO

Where the fuck are Purcell and Lee?

Dreadlock points upwards.

DREADLOCK

There!

Another creature is standing in the rafters holding Purcell’s and Lees’ heads. It eyes them triumphantly.

ZUCCO

Fuck!

Zucco takes out a pistol and shoots the creature in the head.

It falls backwards into the room below.

Dreadlock looks at her with respect.

DREADLOCK

So, I’m just observing and you’re a non-combat General huh?

ZUCCO

Fuck that.

Suddenly, a body bursts through the right hand wall and lands near them.

Dreadlock runs over to it and turns the body over.

It is Burrows. He is clearly dead.

DREADLOCK

Burrows.

He looks at the body a little longer and spits out.

Dreadlock

Fuck!

He looks up as one of the creatures comes through the hole in the wall.

He quickly brings his gun up and fires.

The creature is blown back through the hole.

DREADLOCK

That one’s for you Dan.

Dreadlock looks around.

Zucco is still standing behind the crate.

Dreadlock re-holsters his gun and stands up.

Zucco is talking into his communicator.

ZUCCO

All stations report.

Nothing.

Dreadlock walks across to one of the smashed crates and looks down. It is full of guns.

Zucco

All stations report.

Still nothing.

Dreadlock bends down and picks up a gun. It is one of the four barrelled plasma type.

He holds it in front of his face.

DREADLOCK

(to himself)

The shit’s coming down. FAST!

INT: THELMAN DRAKE’S OFFICE

The gun that Dreadlock was holding is slammed down on Thelman’s desk.

Drake looks down at the gun, surprised.

THELMAN

What the fuck is that?

DREADLOCK

We recovered this little beauty from the Warehouse. It’s the same type that’s been turning up all over Sydney. Young Punks, and wannabes are carrying this sort of fire power. We haven’t had a clue how its been getting in or where its coming from. We have now.

THELMAN

What?

DREADLOCK

The computer that we found linked into the Science NET, is made in only one place. Perth.

THELMAN

That’s a pretty big area. You can’t be more specific.

DREADLOCK

Van Thu has located the warehouse where the computers are made. He thinks he may be able to track down who purchased it by tapping in.

THELMAN

You really think that they can break into a computer company’s records. The same company that created a computer which can hook into our network.

DREADLOCK

No, better. The gateway was still open from when it last hacked into our network. They were actually just relaying instructions from a site in East Perth.

THELMAN

So, you already know where its coming from.

DREADLOCK

Yes.

THELMAN

Well, what are you still here for, get to Perth. NOW.

He turns to his screen, Laura’s face comes on screen.

THELMAN

Laura, arrange transport to Perth, ID’s, a standard cover story, and a contact for Dared Locke, please. To leave immediately.

She nods and disappears.

Dreadlock stops him with his hand.

DReadlock

Make it first thing in the morning, there’s someone I need to see urgently.

Thelman looks back at the screen. Laura comes back on, looking annoyed.

ThelmaN

Laura make it first thing in the morning.

Thelman turns to Dreadlock.

thelman

I hope she’s worth it.

dreadlock

Oh, I think she’ll make it worth my while.

thelman

Your contact in Perth will be Dandra DeMarco.

Dreadlock looks shocked.

dreadlock

Dandra?

thelman

We’ve set her up over there. She’s our main contact. Are you okay with that? I know you two had something a while back.

Dreadlock

No. No, it should be okay. I haven’t talked to her in over two years. I wasn’t even sure where she was. I should be okay with it.

THELMAN

As long as you’re sure. Where’s Zucco.

Dreadlock smiles and says.

DREADLOCK

She’s trying to work out how she’s going to cover the cost of losing an entire Special Weapons squad.

INT: AN EXECUTIVE OFFICE

The office is tastefully decorated, with wood-panelling and wooden display cases filled with nick-nacks and books.

At a desk sits a bald-headed man, facing towards the door, his face hidden from view.

The door opens and a man in his mid-twenties walks in. He is neat and tidily dressed, a young executive. He is STEVE TESCH.

He walks up to the desk and stands quietly waiting to be addressed. He looks a little nervous.

The BALD HEADED MAN looks up.

BALD HEADED MAN

Yes.

TESCH

Sir, our operative in Sydney just made contact. The warehouse has been compromised, the security force has been eliminated and the computer network has been tapped into.

BALD HEADED MAN

Excellent. Everything is going to plan.

Tesch looks surprised and then relieved.

TESCH

Yes, sir.

EXT: DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE BUILDING

Dreadlock walks briskly to the front door.

INT: DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE BUILDING FOYER

Steve Betts is at his station reading a paper. He looks up and sees Dreadlock, just as he reaches the Security desk.

He mouths the word "SHIT", and tries to stand and reach for his gun.

Dreadlock pull his gun and sticks it in his face.

Dreadlock

Sit down. This is important and I don’t need fuckwits like you stuffing me around.

Dreadlock replaces his gun and walks straight on.

Betts immediately taps the computer screen and starts to yabber into it.

INT: SUE BENSON’S OFFICE

Sue is sitting at her desk. Her computer screen beeps and Steve Betts’ image appears on it.

BETTS

Ms Benson, Dreadlock just entered the building and got past me. He looks like he’s headed for you.

BENSON

Oh, is he.

The door opens and Dreadlock barges in.

BENSON

I think he’s found me. You know what to do.

The screen goes blank. Benson looks up at Dreadlock.

BENSON

So, Dared to what do I owe this pleasure.

Dreadlock stops at her desk, and looks down and points at her.

DREAdlock

You are in deep shit.

As he starts to speak, two Security Guards burst in to the office with their guns raised and pointed at Dreadlock.

Dreadlock rolls across the desk, coming up with his gun at Benson’s head.

dreadlock

(to Benson)

Call them off. I have a directive from the Head of IIC which means that I can shoot first and ask questions later, until I get cooperation.

BENSON

What makes you think that my men can’t put you down where you stand.

dreadlock

Ask Betts on your front desk. If he’s any measure then these goons are mince-meat.

Benson looks at him for a couple of seconds. Her face changes to one of resignation.

BENSON

Yes, I suppose your right, with your record you would probably shoot them and me before you realised that you actually need me.

A smile spreads across Dreadlock’s face.

Dreadlock

The only time I ever wanted to shoot you was when we were going out.

Benson smiles wryly.

BENSON

True.

She looks at the two Guards.

BENSON

It’s okay men. Mr. Locke is my guest. You can go back to your stations. Thank You, and shut the door on your way out.

They leave begrudgingly.

Dreadlock takes his gun away from her head and re-holsters it. Benson looks over her shoulder at Dreadlock.

BENSON

So, what can I do for you, or is this just a subtle way to ask me out again.

He chuckles a little and says.

dreadlock

In a fit.

He walks around the desk and takes a seat.

Dreadlock

I’m here about the fact that we lost twelve men to the same creatures that broke into your basement.

Benson expression remains calm.

dreadlock

You don’t look surprised that I know.

BEnson

No, we know that Lambert gave you the Security video for that night.

dreadlock

Don’t suppose you know where he is? I tried to contact him again, but he seems to be missing. Your men didn’t have anything to do with it I presume.

benson

No, we’re just as lost as you are. I thought that you had him in hiding.

Dreadlock looks at her suspiciously for a couple of seconds.

dreadlock

So, what is so important on Sub-Basement level 3 that someone would want to blow up half your building, just as a diversion.

Benson looks at him, thinking about it.

Benson

It’s none of your concern. We have our own Security here and we don’t come under the auspices of IIC.

dreadlock

I’ve seen your Security at work and to tell the truth I’m not overly impressed. We lost a squad of men, you are involved and I want to know what the fuck is going on here.

Benson

I don’t have to show you anything.

dreadlock

Do you want me to go above your head. I’m sure Eastcorp Central would be interested in what’s going on here.

Benson leans forward, a sneer coming to her face.

benson

They are interested in what’s going on here and have given me autonomy. You have no business being here and I want you out now.

Dreadlock pushes a button on his wrist communicator.

Benson turns to her screen and brings up Betts.

Benson

Betts, I want Security back up here. Mr. Locke is leaving.

Betts suddenly looks off screen. His face drops in surprise and his hands shoot up in submission. He is terrified as he turns back to the screen.

Betts

Maam, I think we have a problem here.

A squad of six Special Weapons men has entered the foyer of the Department of Science Building and surrounded Betts. Their weapons are drawn and are pointed at his head.

Benson

What the hell is going on Betts?

Dreadlock leans across, a sly grin on his face.

Dreadlock

I think you’ll find that those are friends of mine. Now, I can have them tear this place apart, or you can show me what you are hiding.

Benson’s face changes to one of complete fury.

Benson

Shit!!

INT: SUB-BASEMENT LEVEL III

Benson leads Dreadlock along the corridor. Benson is still pissed. Dreadlock is extremely calm and interested.

Dreadlock inspects the walls.

Dreadlock

You fixed this up pretty quickly.

He looks up and waves at the video camera.

INT: LAMBERT’S SECURITY AREA

An Operator in Lambert’s chair is watching the video, it’s one of the men from Benson’s office. He flips a bird at the screen.

SECURITY OPERATOR

Up Yours you mechanical freak.

INT: SUB-BASEMENT LEVEL III

Dreadlock walks over to the wall and inspects the hatch where the machine guns come out.

Dreadlock

I’m guessing its something very important.

Benson’s mood starts to change from anger to a more resigned but conceited attitude. She knows what her team is accomplishing and is proud of the fact.

benson

Well it could change the way we accept the progression of the species.

dreadlock

English please.

benson

Birth, Death, Procreation etc.

Dreadlock

I enjoy the procreation bit just as it is, at least practising it anyway.

benson

Ah, so that’s what you call it. When you work out how to do it correctly give me a call.

dreadlock

Yea, funny. I never heard you complain.

They come to another door. Benson puts here palm against a pad. A light changes from red to green and the door opens. They walk through.

INT: DEPARTMENT OF SCIENCE CLONING LABORATORY

A large clean scientific laboratory. Large glass cylinders can be seen all around the place. People are moving around. They are your typical lab types, ie. White coats, clipboards.

Benson and Dreadlock come through a second door.

Dreadlock’s jaw drops as he scans the room slowly.

In the cylinders are human foetuses in different stages of development. The scientists are walking around with clipboards, checking monitors etc.

Benson walks in, turns and holds her arms out.

benson

Welcome to the future.

Dreadlock stands looking shocked.

dreadlock

What the hell are you people doing here?

Benson

Come on Dared, don’t be so backward. This is the Department of Science Cloning Division. We’ve been developing the technology to successfully clone human beings for the last ten years.

dreadlock

Why? This is against all moral beliefs.

benson

Oh, come on. If it weren’t for this technology, you would have been confined to a wheel-chair long ago. Where do you think the idea of muscle replacement tissue came from? It was just a forerunner of this type of technology.

Dreadlock walks up to one of the tubes, he turns and indicates the tube.

dreadlock

But, this is insanity. These are people.

benson

Not really. They are actually just inanimate bodies. We still haven’t worked out how to get the brain working. It seems that during the cloning process we lose all form of instinct. These clones have to be run on machine, they lack all brain activity. The brain is alive, but it doesn’t have the pre-recorded instincts that come from natural gestation.

Dreadlock turns away, completely revolted. He takes a moment and turns back.

A Scientist comes through a door to Dreadlock’s right. One of the pale morphing clones can be seen through the doorway.

Dreadlock’s face changes to one of rage.

He walks to the doorway, looks through and turns back.

Dreadlock

What you make these as well?

Benson walks warily towards him.

Benson

No. Pity. We captured this one when it entered one of the other Sub-Basement tunnels. It had two friends but they were killed during the capture.

Dreadlock turns back and looks at the clone.

It eyes him intently.

Suddenly, the clone lunges at Dreadlock, slapping the glass panel with enough force to make it rock in its frame.

Dreadlock jumps back in surprise.

Immediately the clone is enveloped in a cloud of thick white gas. It loses consciousness and slides down the glass panel to the floor.

dreadlock

Christ.

He walks back into the main laboratory area.

Dreadlock

So who would want this technology?

Benson walks up to one of the tubes and touches it tenderly. She turns and looks at him.

benson

Who wouldn’t? Do you know what would happen if we could animate these clones? We would have an unlimited source of soldiers, workers, anything. Any other power in the world would want this sort of thing. But, there’s only one that I know of that has the resources to get it.

dreadlock

You’re right, and I’m going there in the morning.

INT: DREADLOCK’S APARTMENT

Dreadlock is packing his suitcase.

He fingers a switch, and a panel slides out.

He places his gun and holster in the cut-out spot, and the panel slides in again.

He flicks another and the same happens, this time his eye-piece goes into it.

Without his eyepiece, it is revealed that Dreadlock is missing an eye. There is just skin with a small metal cylinder poking out.

He finishes packing, and closes the suitcase.

He pushes a button on the suitcase.

A light glows red.

He walks to his computer and presses a menu item entitled "X-Ray Proof".

The light on the suitcase changes from red to green.

He moves to a dresser and picks up his tickets and passport.

He opens the passport. His picture shows him wearing an eyepatch, underneath is the name Geoffrey Pearson.

He places the tickets and passport back down and picks up an eyepatch and puts it on.

He walks over to his bed and sits.

He picks up a small toolkit and extracts a screwdriver.

He holds up his left hand and studies it.

The left index finger opens and the blade slides out then in again.

The same happens on the middle finger.

A long stiletto appears slowly from the back of Dreadlock’s wrist, it extends out about six inches and slides back slowly again.

Dreadlock balls his hand into a fist, and the blade slides out instantly.

He holds the fist up and rotates it slowly. A double edged blade unfurls on each side of his wrist, stopping when they are perpendicular.

Dreadlock’s hand is now a formidable weapon.

The blades all slide back into place, and Dreadlock stands.

He walks and stands in front of the mirror.

TIMELAPSE

He is now dressed in a conservative Business Suit, with a pair of gloves on. Looking just like any business man with an eye-patch.

EXT: SYDney AIRPORT

A typical airport. Passengers with luggage are moving in and out of the main terminal doors.

A taxi pulls up and Dreadlock steps out carrying his suitcase and a small briefcase.

INT: Airport terminal

Dreadlock walks up to the check-in counter, placing his suitcase on the hover-conveyor next to the counter.

A young OPERATOR attends him.

Operator

Hello sir can I help you.

dreadlock

Checking in for flight 2611 to Perth thanks.

Dreadlock hands her his ticket and passport. She picks them up and starts reading.

operator

That’s fine sir.

She looks to her right.

operator

Just the one bag sir?

dreadlock

Yes.

The Operator places a tag on the bag and it moves off behind her. It passes through a detector array, and an image flashes up on the screen in front of the Operator.

A line of lights down the right hand side of the screen flash green.

A message appears: "PASSED".

The Operator looks up at Dreadlock and hands his ticket and passport back.

Operator

That’s fine sir. You’ll be boarding through Gate 6 in ten minutes.

EXT: AIRPLANE

The plane resembles a space shuttle. Large exhaust ports are situated on the fuselage. The ground crew are preparing it for take-off.

INT: AIRPLANE CABIN

Dreadlock is seated next to a FAT BUSINESS MAN. He places his briefcase under the seat in front.

PILOT’s voice

This is your Captain speaking. Our destination for this morning is PERTH. Our cruising speed will be 4500 kilometres per hour, our cruising altitude will be 40,000 metres. This morning’s flight time will be approximately one hour. On behalf of the cabin crew I hope you enjoy your flight.

The fat business man next to Dreadlock turns and speaks to him.

FAT MAN

I hate long flights, don’t you.

Dreadlock smiles and nods in agreement.
