Hot & Horrifying: The First Ladies Of Horror (12)
Iron Dave

Greetings, Cyndi. How are you on this sunny October day?
I'm doing great Dave. I'm really excited about the web series I'm in called "Feather Babes". We've been learning stunt fighting & have already started filming scene's for our 1st episode. It's going to be so much fun to finally show off my stunt fighting skills in this web series.

Sounds exciting! Is it true you started modeling at the tender age of 15 years old? I bet you were a real ham weren't you?
Yes this is true. I have always wanted to be a model. I took the classes on how to walk, sit, stand, pose, which was the correct fork, knife, spoon etc. to use when you're at the table; even learned how to properly greet people...you name it I was taught it.
Oh yea, I was always doing things as a child to make people laugh. Weather it be around friends or family get together's I was always making people laugh. Through-out my life, people I've met have always told me I should be a comedian. Personally I don't think I could get up on a stage and try to make total strangers laugh, I would probable freeze up...LOL
Funny though when I was in High School, I received an award for being the class clown...those who know me would not be surprised by this. I still cut up and have fun with people to this day, it's just who I am. I love to make people laugh.

I also understand you received an award for your efforts in fund raising. What was that all about?
Glad you asked..I participate in the "Walk for Diabetes" every year. It started back in 1997. When I was a senior in High School, my mom was diagnosed with diabetes & ever since then, I wanted to find a way to help find a cure. Then one day I was watching TV & the commercial came up for a walk for diabetes being held so I got the number and called them. I've been an avid walker ever since. Actually I'm considered an Alumni walker now. I've been an individual walker all this time & have raised around &7000.00 through the past 11 yrs.

Not to jump off track, but your film Robodoc sounds interesting. What's it about? A cyborg surgeon?
It was fun to be a part of this film. I am in the court room scene & I am one of the court room attendee's. It's about a lawyer who sues every doctor in the hospital system. So they decide to build the perfect doctor & call it Robo-Doc, therefore Robo-Doc can't make a mistake & is designed to save money & lives. So they now have the perfect doctor and in return it drives the lawyer crazy that he can't sue Robo-Doc.

What's the Blade Runner Fan Film all about?
Funny you ask me about this particular film. This was one of the films that I did about 5 or 6 years ago when I was getting back started in the acting business. All I do remember is that this film is based on the original film "Blade Runner". They did film us in scene's for this film but as far as I know, this film wasn't completed. I did however receive still shots from filming and found the trailer to it about a year ago.

What are your thoughts about all of the women in horror these days? Do you feel it is a great stride forward for female filmmakers and actresses?
I think it's exciting & wonderful. Yes I do feel it's a great stride forward. Every female that keeps strong & striving in the horror industry, just helps the next female out along the way. It's like any part of this industry, there always has to be that one that starts it and the strong will follow and keep that path alive and well for the next one to come along.

Just out of curiosity, what is your favorite horror film? How about book?
The Exorcist. There's been similar films made but none has ever been able to top it. Just a great classic horror film to watch, especially around Halloween time. As for books, I'm not much of a reader & really never have been but, I read a lot of film scripts so that's my thing when it comes to reading...LOL.

What is on the horizon for Cyndi right now?
Well I do have 2 more films that I have been scheduled to be in for this year, the first one being "The Nightmare Collection II" by Enigma Films & the second one is "Friday the 13th Fan film" by VEFilms, Epic Productions & Wynkoop Productions. I also have 2 more films that are in the works for next year which are "Zombian" by Caisson Films & "Zombie Lap Dance" by Warbranch Productions. So I'm really excited and can't wait to get started on them.

I have never seen a zombie do a lap dance! Any last words before you leave us?
I do have a new project that I'm working on for 2010. All I can tell you about it right now is, I'll be the host of the web show along with being the producer & director as well. This is going to be a great new web show. Everything's under way and all set to film for next year. Brian & Johnna Troxell of Caisson Films are also going to be involved as well so we are all really anxious and ready to get started. You can find out more about this web show from my official website www.cyndicrotts.com. Looking forward to everyone tuning in.

                                                     NVF Films Interview

                                                                 with

                                                        Victoria DeMare

Greetings, Victoria. How are you on this fine October day?
I'm fantastic & thanks for asking. I love Fall. You don't get the seasons at all here in Los Angeles, but today there is a bit of a chill in the air & it is very windy, so I am enjoying the only "Fall-like" weather we will have here all year!

I see you have been dubbed ''Hollywood's Hottest Scream Queen.'' Do you hold this honor in high regard?
Oh, yes, very much so. To be deemed a Scream Queen at all in the horror genre of film is an exciting accomplishment, but to be considered "Hollywood's Hottest" is an incredible honor I cherish dearly & hold very close to my heart. That title is more to me than a dream come true.

At one time, being called a Scream Queen seemed almost demeaning to women in film, but now there are women who wear it as a badge of honor. Why do you think there has been a change of heart?
I disagree. Being called a Scream Queen has never been demeaning to me as a horror film fan & a working actress & I believe the likes of women like Jamie Lee Curtis, Debbie Rochon, Linnea Quigley, & Tiffany Shepis just to name a few would agree with me. A true Scream Queen is not just a scantily-clad woman running around screaming drenched in blood. She is the essence of "women of horror" & epitomizes the mesmerizing combination of good, evil, sexy, & strong all at once.

How true...I see you made your debut in Roger Corman's SLAUGHTERHOUSE STUDIOS.'' What was it like working with Roger? He seems like he'd be a really nice guy.
It was Slaughter Studiosactually & not Slaughterhouse & it was not my debut, but I was thrilled to be cast in this film. I remember feeling like I had made the big time! Roger Corman is legendary in horror & had launched the careers of Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Jack Nicholson, & Sandra Bullock just off the top of my head, so I was completely ecstatic to add my name to the list of such company to have worked with him. He executive produced Slaughter Studios only since he had stopped directing many years prior to making this film & was only on set 1 day. Mr. Corman has a notorious reputation of being rude & mean, so I was very intimidated that day.

What was that film about? Was it a documentary film?
A documentary? No. It was a fictional horror film about a filmmaker making the last horror film in a legendary studio that was about to be shut down for good that was haunted by the actors who had died there.

What this about you working with C. Thomas Howell?
        C. Thomas Howell & I star in a crime/thriller called Stolen Moments of September slated for a domestic release on DVD early 2010.

Do you have any favorite Scream Queens? Mine was Jamie Lee Curtis back in the 70s and 80s.
My favorites are also Jamie Lee Curtis & Tiffany Shepis.

If you could direct a film, and cast it, too, who would you cast as your male and female leads?
I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in directing or casting. The only position behind the camera I have had interest in & worked as is producer. I produced 3 live television shows on the SKY Channel & a short film over the past 3 years. It would truly depend on the project as far as choosing talent. A couple of male & female actors I would like to work with in the near future are Joaquin Phoenix, Jason Statham, Amy Adams, & Juliette Lewis.

Whats on the horizon for Victoria right now?
I am currently awaiting the release of 15 feature films I am very excited about including the sci-fi/horror sensation Bio Slimedirected by John Lechago. In the meantime, I have been busy as hell working on several cable episodics, short films, feature films, a new webisode series, modeling, dancing & singing as a guest artist performer with the Media Artists Group.

Any last words before you leave us?
Happy Halloween & thank you very much for including me in your project! I would also like to thank Aine Leicht for being a part of my life & don't forget what Jack Nicholson puts just beautifully, "No one gives it to ya. You have to take it!"

                                              NVF Films Interview

                                                          With

                                                   Bianca Barnett

Good day to you, Bianca. How are you this fine morning?
Very well, thank you! I am enjoying the Fall weather and all the holidays approaching. Halloween was a real treat as Bunny Time Cupcakes(a short horror film I starred in, directed by Jason Barnett) played on Chiller TVand took a prize for their Dare 2 Directcontest.

I havent heard from you in awhile; have you been busy? I knowdumb question!
Yes, I am always busy! I have two films and a music video I am working on this month alone. Not only am I an actress, but I maintain my website, answer all emails, read scripts, and handle the business aspect of it all. I'm also a student in college! Hopefully if my career really takes off, I can hire some help. I truly feel fortunate to be this busy, though, and would love to take on more work. Idle hands are the devil's playthings...well, in that case it might be a good thing!

I see you have a love for the 1920s era. Where did that come from?
As a little girl, I would read a lot about old movie stars when my mom would take us to the library. I thought they were so beautiful and glamorous, and reading about their often tragic lives was just mesmerizing. I was always fascinated by movie magic, and there was something really striking yet tragic about the actresses of the silent era.

Yeah, I love the oldies too. Tell me a little bit about Silent Ghost Cinema. It sounds interesting.
I haven't heard from them in ages, but they were a company that produced films inspired by the silent German expressionism movement of the 1920s. They created everything- props, costumes, sets, direction and more. I am very grateful to have had the chance to start my film career by working with them.

I understand you have also worked with H.G. {Lewis} on a new project. Tell me about that one! I love old H.G.
Filming has yet to start on that project, but I am in negotiations to take part. I do hope to work with H.G., I enjoyed watching his older films. I love genre films from the 1960s and 1970s, they are good even if they are bad!

I totally agree! Off of any certain film for a minute; not to be nosy, but have you ever wished you would have taken a different course with your life? I mean, being in horror films is great, but do you ever wish you could have been more like a Julia Roberts type? Or is the horror genre just fine and dandy with you? I, myself, - and no offense intended against Julia - have found that some of best actresses of the past three or four decades got their start in horror films.
I only wish I had started pursuing acting much sooner and of course I regret many of the films I made early on. I am not a Julia Roberts type, no offense to her at all, but I don't fit the mold of America's Sweetheart. I'd rather be kicking ass in an action or horror flick than smooching some stranger in a romantic comedy. I'm not opposed to different roles, though, and I am always open to genres outside of horror. Yes, an "overnight success" is pretty rare in this business. We all have to start somewhere, and that's usually with commercials, background work and the occasional bad movie. I am just hoping to have a long and productive career that people appreciate. I'm still improving on my craft and I know I have a lot to learn, but hopefully a lot to offer as well.

Honestly, though; havent you found that a vast majority of low-budget film actresses are very, very intelligent? Not just a pretty face and big boobs? I think it is terrible the way some guys stereotype actresses.
Ha ha, one would think that, but sometimes actors and actresses live up to the stereotype. There are generally hundreds of people, despite budget, that work on movie sets with varying degrees of intelligence. It is a nice treat when I get to work with bright and interesting people with interests outside of themselves. That said, I try to keep an open mind and treat people the way I would like to be treated. It's not that I am difficult to work with, but I get irritated when things get off track and things become more of a "party" atmosphere. I see it as work and I want to do the best I can, despite the budget.

Amen to that. How about horror cinema? Any favorite films, new or older? How about literature?
How much time do you have?
Plenty. Go for it.
Okay. I have so many favorite horror films, it's ridiculous, but I prefer most made prior to 1989. I love everything from classic horror to slasher flicks to atmospheric gialli to b-movie creature features! Horror literature, especially of the Victorian era through the 1920s, has been an enormous influence on me. I also spent most of my childhood reading Scary Stories to Tell inthe Dark, Grimm's Fairy Tales, books on the occult and the works of H.P. Lovecraft.

All sounds nice and creepyhe-he-heAny exciting up and coming projects?
I've got a handful of feature films I will be working on in the next few months. Also, Albino Farmis set for release in early 2009. Please check my website, www.biancabarnett.com,to find out everything coming up! You can find signed 8x10s and merchandise as well as my personal blog. I'm also hoping to attend more conventions next year and do as much promotion as possible.

Any last words before you leave us?
Thank you for taking the time to talk with me and I invite your readers to stop by my website or visit me on MySpaceto see what I have coming up! Without all of your love and support, I wouldn't be able to do what I love. Thank you so much! :)

No problemo, babe!

                                                     NVF Films Interview

                                                              with

                                                          Lissa Slasher

Greetings, Lissa. Long time, no see. How have you been?
I'm keeping busy, and doing my best to stay out of reform school (laughing).

First of all, let me ask you about your part in the film, His Name Was Jason. Is that a documentary film?
It was shot at Universal Studios: fun time, they even drove me around in a fancy pants golf cart (laughing). It required a whole lot of screaming and I walked away hoarse and with lovely array of black and blues from throwing myself around. The thing is: what matters most to me is what's on film, the rest takes care of itself. It aired on cable on Starz I believe went straight to DVD. The end result was we all had a great time and I ended working with Tom Savini again on a promo for the Verses Networkthe following weekend.

: I cant resist asking you this: is it true your ''lips'' were used for singing the opening theme for The Rocky Horror Picture Show? {Laughs}.
Yep, I did. I sang the opening theme song wearing a garter belt and stilettos.

Wish I could have been there! It sounds as though you have had a very interesting - as well as diverse - career. Which is a good thing, because it gives you a chance to show your versatility as an actress. What was it like playing a transvestite bartender, for example?
I highly recommend every woman try sporting a beard for a day (laughing). I did it for a film called Live Evilwhich was shot on super sixteen and on a limited budget so there was not much room for error. A couple of friends showed up on set and didn't recognize me. I disguised my voice and to sound like a redneck trucker. Between the beard, the voice and the flannel I was looking pretty sexy, or not (laughing). Truth is sometimes I enjoy being someone else, acting can be very therapeutic that way.

Starting out as a dancer at age 8, did you ever foresee yourself becoming an actress in horror films? Was your hometown a good venue for an aspiring actress?
I was fortunate - I had parents who steered me toward the arts early on in life. That usually works well for kids because those skills become second nature when you're taught them early in life. It gives you a leg up later and lets you focus your abilities on a higher level. I think all the training I got when I was a kid helped it come more naturally to me now. Frankly. I can't really remember a time when I was not knee deep in the arts, it's like it is part of my soul. I also had a good amount of theater and improv training. When I played Audrey in a small stage production of Little Shop of Horrors, I really enjoyed the positive feedback from my teachers, friends and of course the audience. Ive always been a bit of a rebel... still am (laughing) and Ive had my share of getting into trouble, so when I was finally appreciated for my talent, it made me feel like I had found my place.

Have you ever given any thought to taking the director's chair? That could be interesting....
Directing just isn't my cup of tea, at least not at this point. Too much dog gone responsibility (laughing).

Here is one I have been tossing around for fun; if you could cast your own horror film, who would be your male and female leads? Or...the killer? I'd volunteer! {Laughs}.
I'd go with actors like Gary Oldman, Amanda Plummer, Toni Collette, Juliette Lewis, Bernicio Del Toro and Robert Downey Jr. I'd love to mix them up with roles they've never played before. My favorite actors are usually chamelion types. Especially the ones who look like they are having fun doing what they do.

Whats on the horizon for Lissa right now?
I can't really talk about a lot of projects until they've been shot because unfortunately most are subject to change. Life as an actor is an f''n roller coaster and there are times when you feel like jumping off (laughing). I can tell you that I have a western and a thriller lined up. Both have some established actors attached whose work I admire. I have a cameo in a larger scale horror film with several horror icons. Is that vague enough for ya? (laughing). I've got several films lined up with Creep Creeperson as well as another horror film called Poewith MetropolisPictures Entertainment, the same production company that I worked with on Never on Sunday. It looks like I may also working on a film based on the life of Charles Manson.

Any last words before you leave us?
Yes, never judge a man unless you've walked a mile in his sandals. This way you're a mile away and you're sporting a spiffy new pair of sandals (laughing).
