What The Night Brings
Richard W McLin

The night blew a cool breeze through the window. Her naked body, which was no longer covered by the bed sheet, shivered with its chilly new bedfellow. Nicole woke up and moved towards the window to close it. As she lifted her arms up another breeze blew across her breasts. She had to admit she loved how that felt. Her nipples began to stand erect, and her mind forgot why she was at the window in the first place.
She closed the window and moved back to the bed. She couldnt sleep, not after that little sexual urge she just received. She moved her hands down her body. First they moved to her breasts. She played with them for a few tantilizing minutes. Her thumb brushed her nipple as her left hand went further down. As she reached the location she was hunting for she began to pleasure herself. She knew her body, and knew exactly what to do. The orgasm came quickly, and it was nice.
She smiled and licked her lips. She got back up and slipped into her silk robe that was lying on a near by chair. She was thirsty, and she knew she had some wine in the fridge that was left over from her party. Another year gone and what did she have to show for it. All alone and masturbating in her bedroom, it was the best sex she had in six months.
Her kitchen lights were motion sensitive, and turned on when she reached the fridge. She opened it and took out the wine. She sat down in front of the fridge and opened it. She didnt feel like getting a glass, and she liked how the cold linoleum felt on her bare backside. She swigged a drink from the bottle and wiped her mouth.
Happy fucking new years, no resolutions to keep. She toasted
A strange tapping could be heard at her front door. She put the bottle down and closed her robe as she moved towards the tapping. Visions of ravens flooded her brain.
Quote the raven, nevermore. She said smiling
She opened the door and there was nothing there. She looked down half expecting a flaming bag of dog feces, but that was absent as will. She closed the door and went back to the bed room. She would pick up the wine later. She would be the only one drinking it anyways. Ever since her boyfriend left her she had been in a depressed state. She passed the kitchen and lay down in her bed, and naked once again. She watched her open bedroom door, and spied as the kitchen light finally died down.
She still could not sleep. She wasnt horny or thirsty, so she would watch television. She reached for the remote on her end-table and turned on her T.V. On the set was an emergency news broadcast
Hello folks thank you joining us, Im Walter Nippy. A repeat of our earlier broadcast, the inmate Thames Warwick has escaped the Miami Mental Institute for the Criminally Insane earlier tonight. He was charged with the rape and murder of over a dozen women in the downtown Miami area. Now the police have informed us that they are setting up road blocks and searching the area. He is extremely dangerous. We would like to warn everyone to lock their doors and windows until this mad man is captured.
She turned the T.V off. That sort of shit was not going to help her relax. Her windows were locked and so were her doors. Or were they? Did she forget to lock the front door after the knock? Maybe that was Thames tricking her so he could get inside the house? She quickly leapt out of bed, back into her robe, and right past the kitchen. She had forgotten to lock the front door. She quickly locked it and looked around.
Everything appeared normal. Panic began to rise inside of her. Her heart was beating more than a gallows drummer at ramming speed. She picked a poker that rested by the fire place and began searching the house. The bathroom, spare bedroom, and laundry room all appeared to be empty.

Scared myself for nothing, there isnt anything here.

She replaced the poker and decided to go back to bed. She had scared herself good, and she thought now she was a bit worn out, and she would be able to get some sleep. As she lay back down she watched as the kitchen light once again put itself out. She lay there smiling, but the smile soon wore off. She had forgotten something. She could hear a creaking sound coming from inside the house.

The attic, I forgot to check the attic entrance in the spare bedroom. she thought to herself

She could hear something moving her way. It was impossible; there was no way that the rapist would be here. The foot steps stopped. She blew a deep sigh of relief, and realized that wine and paranoia dont mix. She always had a big imagination. She rolled over and closed her eyes and finally fell asleep. Had she stayed up a bit longer, she would have notice the kitchen lights turn themselves back on.

The End
