What A Morning L A Winterburn
Monday mornings get me so down
Frost on the trees and dew on the ground
I wake up so early my eyes still like blinds
That dont want to open. This must be a sign
Of coffee I need the elixir of life
I finish my drink too early for me
Then open my eyes at last I can see
I need to get dressed Im shivering cold
I hate early mornings what does the day hold?
I need to leave now or late I will be
Who gives a toss? Certainly not me!
After Im dressed I leave the house fast
Sleep leaves my eyes Im awake at last
The day doesnt seem as though its begun
Light shining so ghostly the street lamps still on
The morning so bleak so dark and so damp
A milk float drives by as I hear bottles clank
A thick coat Im wearing so snug and so warm
But the cold it still hits me I wish I werent born
Why do we do this day in and day out?
All this crap it makes people pout!
I get on the bus it seems just in time
Can I ask anyone to relate to this rhyme
Pushing and shoving I want to sit down
Eventually I do with such a big frown
Looking around me I see human flocks
Of sheep about to spend a day in the stocks
I take out a book and begin to read
A story of murder and treasure and greed
Switching my mind off to the journey Im on
Forty-five minutes and theyll soon be gone!
As if by Illusion I sit at my chair
Forget the bus journey the cold winter air
I turn on my PC log into my phone
Whilst of course I wish I was home
Hold on whats that? It beeps in my ear
Oh no! Not again, the morning I fear
I open my eyes Im awake in my bed
A dream I just had I wish I were dead!
