Richard Buckner

Two adventurers cold and torn weakened by winter's storm

hungry, shivering Jessie and I carried on

we came to a place grey, eerie sounds of death howling wreaks in this

No, Jessie; I pleaded I said; He refused to listen

desperate for a place to rest his head

so we made our way forward into this unhallowed ground

Is that a house I see? Yes, Yes, Jessie Shouted at me

we ran with energy drained, pained

we lingered as we approached the door

Jessie knocked no answer came

grasping the handle Jessie said his life felt as if being slain

entering this barren place at this moment only seeking, No, needing

hoping for warmth, a little rest but what we found came from another realm

burdened and tired gave no notice

no color nor odor, no sheen shown if only I had known

Jessie, Jessie might still be

Finding clothes and wood we broke chair's curtains torn

built fire in the fire place in a home unbecoming us, "we the unknowns

We slept, I was troubled

dreams of horror my soul was ripped and torn

from demons stinging worms in swarms

but I did not, "No, not meI would not be taking by evil's decree

for whose home had we come to scorn

tossing, turning I woke but Jessie was nowhere near

I walked softly looking around, I...I seen a man from back

Jessie, Jessie is that you, I ask, noooo, it turned

what was Jessie now gone

tears flowed as fear took over

you will not leave this place

the voice, the face a man but inside a creature or demon did stand

I have at no time been a religious man but Jessie always kept bible in hand

I searched and yelled

for what was Jessie is no more

It attacked me, throwing me to walls and floor

blood flowing from my head heart pounding hard in chest

I shouted God, Jesus, If demons be so, then you must show

surely evil cannot exist without Its opposite, which is you evils foe...

Doors were locked, I hit and struck ,nor did windows break

It must have been my lack of faith

in stuttered words, how much more can I take

I clinched my fist; I prayed

never have I done this before this day

I heard a voice; It said to strike the door

within your hands are holy words
as you strike the door call out my name
bear no guilt feel no shame

your friend Jessie is lost; he can be no more

you both have died and entered Satan's door

where he is king where he is Lord sitting on his throne of pain and gore

While you slept you wept inside but Jessie, He committed suicide

Strike the door, "do it now, leave this realm or forever you be damned

return to living spread the word never enter houses not of yours

for very few can endure the house where Satan wears his crown

for all who come to unhallowed ground will become

unwelcomed guest in Satan's Realm
