DESCRIPTION
Another Ed Gein (The Plainfield Psycho) related poem. Well, no one reads my stuff unless it's got death in it. Perhaps I'll get a collection going.

Thoughtless Crime
Rowan Davies

Why did you do it? No broken bones,
But tufts of hair that clung to hard dead skin
And a smell of must in the air, vinegary preservative,
A stagnant stench of bodies kept from their earthy homes.

Anatomical books were scattered on rotting bench-wood,
Mildew-eaten through time but they were well-used,
We saw your pictures, diagrams of Venus form,
Sickened by your life, your work and pleasure.

With callous hands like all you had ever received
We met the faces of friends and we took them from you,
We stole them via an inability to appreciate the time and effort,
Unable to conceive an art form so powerful, pure and undiscovered.

And then, when the doors were open and the boxes finally prised
It must have hurt. Invading your collection of caring creations,
Invading your very being in blind ignorance of your ways,
Convicting you without exception for being yourself.
