Casting a shadow of gray
A color, I've never seen from her before
Where is the hope, that left her here today?
Why is the grass so green
Why is the love we've seen
Taken, all away
Memories seem to float on the wind
Just like a kiss slipping from her lips
Entangled in a web, restrained from my voice
The sorrow shrieks a cry
Why did she have to die?
It wasn't her choice
I can still feel her next to me
Her voice whispers to me in my dreams
I see her face when I close my eyes
The words she spoke, burned in my mind
"Life is like a puddle to me,
the more life it get, the bigger it will be,
but if you let that life slip through your hands
all you'll have left is the drifting sands"
With that thought, I turn and walk away
I wonder if the chance were there, would I do it all again
Racing back through time, estranged, crossing the line
Death watched as I made the call
Unguarded, then he took it all
A sentence, for my crime
I remember as I held her in my arms
Her blood on my hands and the glitter shining in the road
Trying not to cry, the fear grows in her eyes
"Please don't be so sad,
maybe it isn't that bad"
Then her eyes told me good-bye
And I can still feel her next to me
Her voice whispers to me in my dreams
I feel her there when I'm lost at times
Keeping me from crossing that line
And life is like a puddle to me
The more life it gets, the bigger it will be
But if you let that life slip through your hands
All you'll have left is the drifting sands
