If I Should Die Before I Wake
Katherine Smith

When you let it end
Make sure I grab my piece
Strip you of all your Earthly possessions
Lay my head in your lap and Ill fall asleep

Drift back into an illusion when your Heaven was my Serenity
Into the meadow of fog and rain, that would mask my insanity and just let me be me.
Allow me the opportunity to shake the cobwebs from my mind and collect myself
Before the nightmare intervenes and takes grip of who I once was.

If I should die before I wake, make certain my soul is locked securely in place
Before these chambers grow wings of their own
Fire bullets into the eyes of the broken and the abhorred
Damn the Angels to Hell when their Halos shatter like broken glass
Sound the trumpet as he cocks his head backward
Well share a wicked laugh

Wake me from this slumber
With your vile cherry kiss
Let go of my reaching palms,
Let me fall back into the infinite abyss

My dreams became my sanctuary
A route of wanted escape
But you chained these gaping wrists to your wintry Dungeon wall
Played this fucked game
So I would wither away

Entered my subconscious to sabotage all desire
Constricted these veins to stop the rising power
And burned the pages of my mind to leave a side untold

"Nice, but I couldn't focus on what you were talking about because I am too stupid really. What was it about?" -- rube.
"You're not stupid, trust me. More or less it was a free-lance poem focusing on using dreams as a formality of escape from a bad situation--However the individual causing harm was able too, to invade the victim's dream. " -- Katy , tampa , fla.
