Henna and the colored Pencils
Suddenly there was an upward movement of cold air, such a sudden rush that it up lifted Henna some 20 feet above the ground. She opened her mouth to try to scream but the air rushed in so she just shut her mouth. She felt like she was in an open car without any seats. She was in one direction and than suddenly in another. With a quick flash she fell with a sudden bang. She could hear the round of applause; in front of her she could see a rather thin looking pencil, ahh a pencil? Making a salute? �Welcome� it said.
�Where am I�, asked Henna.
�You are where you put us�, replied the pencil.
�What do you mean�? Questioned Henna;
�You will find out�. Replied the pencil and it ran away.
Henna managed to get up, her legs went stiff, she could not bend them and her arms also fall to her side she could not move them.
�Hop along and follow me called out the pencil�.
�I cannot move� shouted Henna.
�That because you are one of us�. Laughed the pencil
Henna found that she had to hop along, following the pencil. The more she jumped the higher she went. This if fun thought Henna. Soon the pencil stopped and so did Henna. While she was trying to catch her breath, something was tapping her on the head. She looked around.
�Remember me� said a very tall fat, blue pencil.
�Two years ago you gave me to the junk shop�, it replied.
�Yes I bought you from the seaside�, remembered Henna.
�How would you feel if we hand you to the Junk shop�, it replied.
�She gave us away too�, they all shouted.
Henna looked around and they were about 50 colored pencils all slanting and pointing at Henna.
�I�m sorry� cried Henna.
�I�ll never to that again�
But it�s too late.
�Look what you have done to that red pencil�s head. You half chew it� said the large blue pencil.
�I didn�t mean to do it, I got carried away when I had my exams�, Henna explained.
A green pencil came forward.
�Do you remember you used me to write some swear word�?
�How degrading� they all agreed.
�Look please, I�ll do anything to be your friends again�, said Henna.
They all circled around Henna.
�You really would�, they chorused.
�Look there a big Art Competition, and I would like to use all of you to win it�, said Henna.
The large blue pencil gave Henna a large piece of paper.
�Great, get going than�, they said.
Henna called out all the different shades of blues, and they came forward, she colored the sky. And gave it some white floating clouds.
Then she called out all the greens. She was doing her best, and colored the fields and the trees and the red and yellow flowers.
�You haven�t used us�, said a dozen of pencils.
Henna looked at her painting and thought hard for a minute, I know I have to put in some people. And used the rest of the unused colors for their clothes
Henna had finished her painting she left no white paper showing; her painting was full of color.
�That looks nice� they all agreed.
They entered the painting for the Art Competition. There was a lot of competition. But Henna�s painting was done with determination and Henna won first price with the help of all the pencils of cause.
Henna and all the colored pencil stood to have their picture taken to be printed in the papers.
�You all belong to me, and I shall never ever throw you out again�. Said Henna
