Festival Saturday Pretty bratty weather for festival Saturday I've waited months for this and finally it happened Hottest ticket in the East I was outside in my black trench coat and cap Sitting in a lawn chair, freezing and shivering Fingers almost numb Partly covered in a red umbrella to keep the wind off But it was well worth a chance to see him Up close and personal What an evening it was! I can't believe I plucked up the courage To get his signature and give to the man A freehand pencil sketch made especially for him Too bad I had to fold it up and put it in my pocket So the wind wouldn't knock it out of my hand Cursed weather! Seemed like one of Mother Nature's dirty jokesRed Sky It was an evening for four A red sky, licked with thin, orange, flaming cirrus clouds Shone into the room We marveled at the sight as we dined I remember him dressed finely in his charcoal slacks and Smooth speckled shirt, which looked so good on him Our guests shared stories and told jokes And we laughed, occasionally glancing at each other Sitting across from me, he glided his foot up my leg, Taking me by surprise They left us alone later We mellowed out with the lights down low, Dancing to some sultry bossa nova by Jobim on the stereo Gazing out the window at that fiery red sky Enjoying it as we enjoyed each otherA Close Call I saw him wheeled into the room where I sat waiting Tubes in his nose, an IV in his arm Kissing him repeatedly, I wept profusely, Fearing that I would've lost him I felt his warm hand caressing my head I heard him whisper to me, "It's alright." I was alarmed when I got that phone call Having been told what'd happened He was supposed to be on his way home I rushed to be with him I was in hysterics, nearly losing my mind He gave me quite a scare It was a close call I wanted to stay with him all night But they wouldn't let me So I went home, in hopes that he'd be better In the morning
