TITLE (EDIT)
Alif
DESCRIPTION
Alif is a country quite unlike any you may have visited but a great deal like all of them. It is a land where the State runs the brothels, but where many liberties are proscribed. In this land, Ana takes up employment as a secretary in a State brothel, but finds out as much about herself as about the others who work there. She falls in love with Binta, a woman sentenced to serve in the brothel for the crimes of lesbianism and alcohol possession. Needless to say, the course of true love does not run smooth. Despite the potentially cheesy nature of this storys subject, anyone expecting to find adult or erotic fiction of the type freely available elsewhere on the web may be disappointed. For others there may be much to find in the land of Alif.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
I am an English Literature graduate who has worked in broadcasting, journalism, teaching and now computers. Literature and music are my first loves, but I am most interested in that art which crosses at the boundaries of the genres, although that which is the best in any genre is always worth getting to know. I am especially keen on arts from the 17th and 18th centuries, but I also enjoy a great deal of contemporary art.

READER'S REVIEWS (1)
DISCLAIMER: STORYMANIA DOES NOT PROVIDE AND IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REVIEWS. ALL REVIEWS ARE PROVIDED BY NON-ASSOCIATED VISITORS, REGARDLESS OF THE WAY THEY CALL THEMSELVES.

"I have to admit, "Omega" was better. "Alif" is very captivating, it kept me awake until 4 AM, but it has some problems. Main characters are not always convincing (for example, Binta's confession comes too early and is too long; Ana, like a shy country girl, must defend her friendship with Binta (while it's still just friendship) with much more reasons, something like 'She's a wonderfull person, she's in love with somebody else anyway...', add a few of your own). The main problem is that the story of a lesbian love is completely unnecessary. This is a story of love in a disapproving world, so heterosexual love in a state that determines who will marry who (just an idea) would serve much better. Hope this helps. Best wishes, and keep writing!" -- Ivana Milakovic.
