The Monster

Marsha knew she had to hide soon. It was getting dark, and that was when the monster came. She heard the front door slam and knew the monster had arrived. She ran into her closet with a flashlight.

The monster growled, he knocked anything in his sight over with every aloof step. The monster had an anger in him that he needed to get out. Every night, he ransacked the house looking for pleasure. The monster found pleasure in evil ways however. He consumed the most awful of substances, screeched to the top of his lungs, and destroyed anything in his sight. All this monster knew was to take and use. On This night. the monster needed a greater more sinister pleasure. His relief would only be fulfilled with the suffering of the innocent.

Marsha sat in the closet, her eyes closed, repeating a prayer without making a peep. Her pleas were interrupted by the monster's stomps. She had never heard it so close before. Then, her bedroom door flew off. Only a loud snorting could be heard. Marsha knew she had to escape, and never come back. She opened the closet and ran without hesitation; the years of fear and routine hiding had tired her. She was able to escape, but the monster had clawed at her, leaving a deep scratch on her right arm.The monster bellowed a frustrating scream and ran in search of new prey. And Marsha ran in search of a new home.

It had been so long since she's seen him, Marsha thought. She had gotten a call from a local hospital, and she was the only person the staff could reach. Her palms were getting sweaty while walking to his room. She had never thought of him until this day, and now her mind was clouded with fear and uncertainty. She stopped at room 304, his room. She stood still, and thought of how he will react, but she couldn't avoid this for long, no matter how much she wanted to. Marsha forced her leg through the walkway and searched for the familiar figure. A pale and wrinkled sleeping man caught her eye. At first, she thought she got the wrong room number. However, she eventually recognized the figure. It was the monster, a smaller, shriveled version. His hands looked so fragile and he seemed to be at the brink of breaking. Marsha no longer recognized this being as the monster, but as her father.
