The sun had been shining brightly all day over the foothills. The breeze was steady and cool, picking up every now and again to blow a fresh layer of falling leaves. This was a land practically untouched by human machines and technology, both flora and fauna budded and bloomed with a vibrancy of life. Kara wondered how a place so magnificent could survive all these years without a trace of human influence. She took it all in with a smile and a sigh of relief. The great outdoors was a stimulating change from her day-to-day grind. There were no cars out here, no trains, no buses, and most of all... no pollution. She had found a place where relaxing came almost automatically. No harsh lights, no one constantly talking on their cell phone, no schedule to follow. Everything was so pure and simple, she wondered what it would be like to live a day as an animal that called this magical haven home. Her "home" was a three-story brownstone with large windows and vaulted ceilings. It was about as open you could get for the price, but nothing compared to this. There were too many days that the hustle of everything made her forget what true beauty was. It certainly wasn't human, not man-made at all. She opened her arms to the wind and tilted her head back with eyes closed. She could feel the sun's warm energy embrace her like a winter blanket. This, indeed, was heaven on earth, Mother Nature's precious gift to humanity.
