The Roof That Night
Bruce The Mtndewpoet
As I lie there, looking at my gorgeous love,
Watching how slowly her chest rises and falls in her sleep,
I think of what she could be dreaming of.
We have been up here all night, listening to the crickets "chirp"
and the frogs "croak" and the night owls "hoot."
We climbed the ladder up to the roof here, and watched
the stars seem to fly by looking through our telescope.
We play a game of who can count all the constellations first;
she always wins.
We lie back together embracing in our love.
She soon falls into the land of slumber where we are always together.
After a short while she wakes; just in time to watch with me
the sun rise to the heavens.
