My Brother Is Dead But I'm Doing Fine
David Daniels

All alone in a world of confusion
Lost in a haze of mystery and pain
They say I've lost my mind
But how can u lose ur mind if ur insane

Addicted to substances that destroy ur body
A shiney silver needle that pricks ur skin
Don't want the high to ever end
Waiting for the high to begin

Inhaling white powder that makes ur nose bleed
But yet ur able to climb a mountain
Wishing u had an endless supply of sweet rum
That flows from a magical fountain

Take a pill to sleep
Take a pill to wake
How many fuckin' pills do I need
As many as I can take

A toast for the future
A drink to wash away ur dark past
The bottle is almost empty
Get to the liquor store and make it fast

A hit from ur little fancy pipe
Don't need flavored tobacco for this smoke
I need the stuff that takes u to mars
I need the good stuff that makes u choke

My mind is low and in the gutter
Need to get stoned and sit on top of the earth
I've been addicted all my life
I got stoned with mom after my birth

My brain is a machine
That runs on unleaded fuel
My body loves to swim
With a GreyGoose in a vodka pool

Now at 40
I've suddenly grown wiser
I've realized that drugs aren't the answer
There is no need to get any higher

Now I have all of my days
To enjoy a good clean sober life
First I must figure out how to survive the day
With out cutting my throat with a knife

I've lost all my family and friends
But I still have my children and a home
I've guess I'm lucky I didn't lose it all
If I was a smart man then I would've known

Now I have money for food
Becoz I don't spend it all on the high
But the credit cards are way overdue
I've spilt the milk but I won't cry

Take it one day at a time
So they tell me, so they say
But when u've been stoned all ur life
You need to be told how to find a way

A way to cope with the miseries of life
Without lighting a fuckin' joint
If I can't get stoned anymore
THEN WHAT THE FUCK IS THE POINT????

A beer and a joint
My first taste when I was only nine
My big brother turned me on
He's dead now but I'm doing just fine
