Hoping For A Resurrection
David Daniels

All I want is to hold you tight
I want to lay with you until the morning light

And if the sun rises and you're not there
Always remember that I truly cared

And wherever you go and wherever you are
I'll still see your sparkling eyes in every star

And I'll continue to carry on without you
It seems like the only thing I can do

The memories of you will always remain
I'll hear your whispering voice in the pouring rain

And someday I hope to one day find
That you've thought it over and changed your mind

And you'll come running back to me
And we'll be together like it was meant to be

But for now I am forced to let you go
But before you leave there are things you should know

I've tried to be a good man
I've tried to lead you by the hand

As for my heart, you've tried to break it
As for my soul, you've tried to take it

As for love,I know that you've been faking it
Because you believe that our love is not making it

Then maybe,walking out that door
Is the one thing you should do for sure

But as long as you realize
That I wore no masks and no disguise

I am what I am
Which is just an ordinary man

The things I told you were not always true
But I never meant to hurt you

And if you go lets get one thing straight
Because there's one thing that we can't debate

I will love you forever
So please don't say the word never

Because I believe that one day
Our love will be resurrected somehow and someway

"I guess I saw less hope for resurrection and more acceptance of the finality of the relationship...just my opinion of course. I especially liked the lines "But as long as you realize That I wore no masks and no disguise I am what I am Which is just an ordinary man" Would like to meet someone who does not hide behind masks. Alas my own sadness shows through...anyway it was a good poem filled with sincere emotion. :) " -- Mattie.
"a very sad write, it did touch my heart. Beautiful lines of devotion and love. I hope she returns the love you feel for her. If it was only your imagination, know that it is still a nice read. Hugs and thanks for your wonderful comments on my poems, Daniels. Glad to know we are bonded thru this site and that i have a friend even so far away in miles. Hugs, " -- dri.
