Madness Amongst The Dust
D G Williford

Dusty goblet on the shelf
Lizard winds its tail around the base
Flicks her tongue at the glistening gems

Strand of pearls, some in some out
Brooch of heads from ancient Greece
Eight hairy legs caressing her carved cheek

Picture of a little girl in petticoats
Face scratched beyond recognition
Under the earth she now lives

Leaning books, some up some down
Spines cracked and bindings loose
Eyes plucked from sockets eternally

In the corner he sits alone
Hair and clothes unkempt
He was now in his madness. a lost trinket just like the rest
