A Prayer for Peace

We study wars in history class.
They seem a part of our life.
We study death and victory, yet
We do not feel the strife.

Till one day men in charge decide,
"It's time to make a war,"
And tell us what the reasons are
That men are fighting for.

Then we learn that war is wrong,
That we should not cause death,
That war is not how men should draw
A last a fleeting breath.

For violence, it is never right,
No matter what the reason is,
Peace should fill our lovely land,
Yet we continue learning what
Makes our country cry,
What makes millions of people
Sorrowful Each day and night.
