The Window Kylan Masters
My eyes,
To the window pane roam.
I see people running,
I see people playing.
I want to go,
but can't.
The trees turn green, then red;
then dead.
The sun rises in the horizon,
Then falls in the opposite.
I see a girl.
Her beauty blinds my eyes.
Her hand touches the tree.
The leaves still grow and fall;
I don't notice.
My eyes roam to the window pane;
And stop.
My body,
To the door goes.
I open it,
A breeze tussles my hair,
A shiver runs down my spine,
Reminding me it's there.
My hands reach out,
And grab a falling leaf,
A leaf from the tree,
The only part of the tree I hold.
The sun shines across my face;
I feel it not.
I see a girl.
Her beauty shakes my being.
I yearn to touch the tree,
To share the tree;
But I don't.
My body travels to the door;
And stops.
My heart,
To the edge it goes.
It sees the girl,
And quickens its pace.
But with every drop of a leaf,
My heart slows.
It yearns to be in that sun,
But it is forever lost,
In the darkness of me.
My heart teeters on the edge;
And falls.
My mind,
To the clouds it flies.
I walk outside,
And embrace that girl.
The sun shines brightly,
The tree blooms and drops not another leaf.
I feel the warmth of the sun,
As we stand in the shade of that tree.
Inside, a smile appears,
briefly,
On the face staring out the window.
