ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Johannes Pastore is a man who was born with a heart. He knows what it is to have it broken and mended, to lose it and have it renewed. It is here, in the quiet world of the heart, that Mr. Pastore has chosen the location for this poem, as well as other writings (see Booklocker.Com). Many readers will find this landscape familiar, and his experiences an echo to their own.

The Tree And The Wind
Johannes Pastore

The Tree and the Wind

A Tree and the Wind met atop a grassy hill,
Or rather, the Wind met Tree,
Tree liked Wind, in fact so much so,
That he asked Wind back for tea.
But the Wind laughed lightly and shook her hands in the air,
Tussling the mane of Tree,
And said in a voice, very coy and very fair,
"What is it you want of me?"
"To stay!" said the Tree with a choke in his trunk,
"Very well," said the Wind, and she stayed,
But then the Wind grew quiet and Tree blinked back a tear,
To find his friend was gone and nowhere near.
"Where are you? Where are you?" the Tree called out,
As no leaf stirred and the sun burned hot,
"I'm here," said the Wind in a voice of lightest breeze,
"I'm here, but no longer Wind. Just air."
