Kitchen Light M. Parker
blueblackblueblack stripe the lines across the night sky. air dives through the trees, thrashing leaves, bending branches menacingly. empty flat silohettes are dancing a frightful celebration to the screeching.
comfort washes in me when i turn, turn to the glow of our home.
thin kitchen light falls from the windowsill and splashes on dark grass, bleeds into soft black. shadows stretch and strain from that light, falling at odd angles back.

"I like your imagery here - the contrast of thrashing and empty, with comfort and glow. "Splashes on dark grass, bleeds into soft black," is wonderful. Very eerie, I pictured a blustery October night. I'm not sure about the last line of your 1st stanza, not sure what celebration you are referring to, or what the screeching is. Just a spelling note - should be 'silhouettes'. Good work M, I enjoyed it." -- Julia Tripp, Ontario, Canada.
"I enjoyed this, but I wish there was more. Don't be afraid to ramble, to explain, to explore, because I kind of what to know what this whole scene means to writer, what you want it to mean to us. You have a great ear for excellent sound combinations, great lines. I just wish you'd throw more in here, make it a full on drama, give us a shift, a change, a motion worthy of your descriptive talents. Andriene Rich. (sp)" -- Hazzard.
"I like the imagery of how you describe the kitchen I can picture the lights over the kitchen counter." -- Jeanette.
