A Rose To You Brandon Cummins
The undaunted rose
flung towards the sun
casts a shimmer of passion
on a night just begun.
A candle-lit dinner,
or a splash in the rain,
as the evening continues,
we must both contain
the passion amongst us
like a fire within.
It burns so deeply
a touch of skin to skin.
The subtle, strong contact
ignites flame anew,
one that burns united
blending me amidst you.
We glance to the table
see the solitary rose
we take it between us
and like our passion it grows.
Its vines entangle us,
bring us closer as one,
our lips slowly meet
the dream is now done.
The night has passed
and fresh morning has come
the longing for you greatens
but my day's just begun.
A rose left out late,
near a fire so strong
has now tasted a fruit
ripened too long.
