Needle Down To Nothing

The needle drops down as
panic sets in.
The kids in the backseat are fighting
and playing Nintendo DS unaware
of the danger thats setting in.
It's 11 pm and no one around as the
needle starts to shake and mom and dad
search for a gas station like a kid finding
eggs on easter.
There is none in sight as they continue to
chance their luck when they pull in the
driveway the kids are sound asleep and
the parents are relieved like they won the
lottery. The next day the father goes and gets
gas and finds out by the mechanic that they
actually had two gallon reserve tank, and could
have driven another 50 miles or so.
The dad looks at the mechanic and says yea but
then what would we tell our children when they
get older.. Everyone needs a story and now
we have ours.., mechanic looks back and smiles.
