Where Silence Is
Jane Byron

    Lying still upon the river
I can hear (more I can feel) the water rushing (blood gushing)
just beneath the surface of this brightest ever blue
and this clearest ever
smooth
And I recall how I came to be sitting so still (ever still)
only just above the surface
but I cannot recall
Only that I am quite sure that this silence (my own Silence)
was meant for something much
Sweeter
much more Symphonic
than this rushing Red silence beneath my
back
just below the Surface where
silence is Death
